If all goes well the three choices should offer all of you a decent set up. If things get messy this year we will re-evaluate the rule and adjust. The Mini Type A should be available shortly in time for the first regional race. They are being bagged as we speak....

On another note: check out our newest announcement regarding what the 2012 trip classes will be and a new wrinkle.

Happy New Year
M-Chassis classes must use the Spec 60D Pre-mounted tire sets available. Items: 1016 (Super Grip Radial w/foam insert-firm), 1028 (60D Type-A w/foam insert soft) and 1029 (60D Type-A w/foam insert hard) All tires are mounted on Suzuki Swift wheels.

Hi Fred,
Above I copied the tire rules for Mini from Tamiya's site.

It is noted that "M-Chassis classes must use the Spec 60D Pre-mounted tire sets available."
Does this mean that full "sets" must be used or will we have/get to mix and match?
Thanks

"If a former TCS champion wins the GT-1 class they are not eligible to compete again for another two years. New winners must also sit out the TCS Finals for two years to be eligible to compete again."

so , what happen to the 2010 and 2011 GT1 Champ?

There is a lot on the line to motivate folks to step up and run GT1.

Good job Tamiya

Henry, that rule only applies to "Trip winning" class Champions. You are eligible to race for the trip this year because GT-1 was only a "National Class" in 2011. For 2010, there was no GT-1 class.

Good chance that "$500 prize" could be a new 417 and the cash for new electronics to take a new ride to Japan. Also gives us "non-past Champions" incentive to take on the uber fast guys for a chance at fame and glory. At least I know I am already planning to run in 3 of the 4 trip classes this years regionals so only question come August will be which one to pick.

The sitting out rule begins after we crown a new GT-1 winner in 2012. Meaning...Anyone who won GT-1 in the last 2 years does not need to worry. You don't have to sit this years Nationals out.

Cuda, you may mix and match Mini spec tires if you wish. Based on what I have seen, the Type A's should be a great tire on carpet TCS races while the S-Grip should be your best choice on hot asphalt surfaces. However, I'm sure people will experiment a little to see if they can find a combo that will make their poorly set up Mini drivable

Bozo,

Whether you race in Mini "classic" or Mini "Pro" it will qualify you for the TCS finals.
I would like to see how Mini Pro works out in the coming races, but right now I'm leaning on our current TCS Finals formula with hand out Johnson's. It's worked out well and it's fair.
I'm sure there will be some tweaks to the Pro class that will need addressing before we could ever consider running that formula at the Finals.

I'm thinking of making the trip down from Norcal to run 1/12 scale. How many of you are going to run 1/12 scale? Will there be a class?

Or the poor old M-06 that is wicked on carpet but deplorable on asphalt with same tires front and rear may now have a fighting chance on pavement! Seems that at least someone seems to think the car needs the assistance of different grip tires front versus rear, cuz that's the way Tamiya ships out the car from the factory in the box - low grip front tires, high grip rear tires.
