Need pipe suggestions for a P5XLT, Modded, Losi 8T 3.0 with semi aggressive clutch set up.
This is what is important to me ( in this order)
1. Run times. I want to make 10 minute pit stops without "
2. Smoothness. I want to be able to control the truck and not have it all over the place. Don't like the Electric On/Off feel.
3. More concerned in low to mid range. I know its a contradiction to have an efficient pipe that is a torque monster, but there are some out there ( that's why this is #3).
I am not brand loyal, and don't care if they "match" so frankenstiens ( pipe, header and motor all from diff manufacturers) are also of consideration. Just want it to work for me.
I have some pipes already, Werks 2013, 2057, Dyno 053, JP-1 and -3 and probably more somewhere in the garage....

..well, I'm just assuming, because usually bigger crank diameter means better performance.R Plus 8 is probably based on the previous 421B, which is now being sold as Ultimate engines M-814 in Europe. (updated case, head)
I've seen a few of those Ultimate versions at races I go to and they perform well.
Plus 5 is obviously P5XLT with a saucier crank.
Paloma should again be like a Bonito with the old style head.

The R plus 8 is the smoothest. It would be suitable for buggy. It has very smooth acceleration.
The Paloma is the most powerful, it would be good for buggy, or truggy depending on setup.
The R plus 5 is a great all around engine. Good for buggy, or truggy depending on setup.
During testing, the stock engines are all capable of running 10+ minutes. My modified versions are also able to go over 10 minutes, but with more useable power. This is with both amateur, and pro drivers during testing. Loose, and high bite tracks.
These 3 engines all use the same shaped 14.5mm balanced crankshaft. Different stroke crankpin though on the Paloma.
The Paloma uses a Bonito piston/liner.
The 8 port uses an 8 intake port liner, with a flat top P5 style piston.
The 5 port uses a bonito type dome piston with a unique 5 port liner, that is different than a P5.
Overall, I'm happy with the Rex engines. They run very good.

Hey guys
Whats a good milestone fuel mileage where i can start leaning on the top and bottom end? Ive got a btt-wc and bonito, both factory tuned, and had about 1 tanks through each. 50% of that has been on a track, with an extremely rich tune on it. Temps hover around 100c normally.

You want to get about 1/3 to 1/2 gallon ( 1-2 qts for you metric guys) before you start leaning on it. I would do a fast idle for 2 or 3 tanks then drive easy with 2-3 second bursts with about 8-10 seconds in between, for the next 2-3. Then lean an hour or 2 and continue with the bursts. Always keeping an eye on the smoke trails and temps. 100-115C is a good place to be but not much higher than 120C.
Getting ready to start my break-in this weekend but the temps here are going to be dropping into the 40-50's. It will be hard to keep the heat in. Got my heater and tin foil ready....
