I'm not 100% sure, but I think flush and flush would get you in the ball park to start a retune.

It is either model year, batch or revision i belive. The new 14 is reinforced at the rod end and not nessesary for offroad.. As long as you get the R7 rod you will always be fine:-)

My R7 rod was a 13. You still think the reinforcement is not needed.

Exactly how necessary is a bearing change if my Beat B5/P5XLT just showed up with a black front bearing?

its all about the dust...the more dusty the conditions, the more rapidly you need to change/clean the bearing...the 17011 will help some, but even that will pack with dirt and need changing if the conditions are dusty.......We run the original bearings in plenty of engines without any issues, but we run in relatively clean conditions.................. There is nothing wrong with the stock bearing themselves, they are actually quite good...the issue is dirt getting sucked into them........and that dirt is what ruins the bearing itself............

I don't know shxx about bearings, and frankly don't want to.. I like to buy my engines at a price level where I can run them til they drop, then buy something else. No bearing changes, rods, etc.. But I guess the question is, if I send this to a guy to get modded, should I also get him to change the bearing? Or, leave it, and send it back to him for a bearing change later after a couple gallons?(not keen)... Even though I got a deal on this engine, once I get it modded it'll be up at a cost level where I won't feel good always wondering how bad the bearing sucks and how soon I'll have to get it changed...

The 17011 is slightly better...but if you run in nasty conditions it will also pack with dirt and get gritty and need changing ..... This is universal to all engines, if you run in nasty dusty conditions your going to kill your front bearing, unless of course you use a dust cap............ never are any of the bearings issues plain mechanical failures, they are always failures due to dirt getting in......... truth is if you took the time to regularly clean the front bearing it would last many times longer then if you just simply run it till failure................

Just curious if you could use a +4 Team C piston and sleeve with a p5xlt case and crank? Found a awesome deal on Team c internals so I am trying to figure out if I can use them with some of my engine spare stuff that is all in really good condition. Thanks!
