NOVAROSSI Engine thread....

no it was one of the older hudy flat heads but after a bit more heat and a tap on top of the screw head with a punch they finally cam lose but that was close
new hudy screwdriver and screws on its way
probably a question for houston, the btt and the roma cooling heads are they the same? cheers

it may be just me but i am not a fan of the ultra low design at all
just an fyi for you engine DIY guys , be very careful when pulling the btt sleeve out of the block , the bridging between the exhaust and intake ports is verrrrrry thin , i recommend using heat on the before pullin it out , dont ask me how i know

Just ordered the pipe, manifold and 4 extra gaskets!! I'm thinking of running Odonell 97t plugs, decent idea? Probably going to run Byron 30/9 on the plus4 after the first gallon of Byron 30/11. With my buku clutch of course

One of my buddies was running the 97T in his P5 and he said if you run the tank dry they are spent. He also put in a C6 yesterday and noticed how much smoother the motor ran. I know the Nova plugs are expensive but they are the best for our motors. What ever you do don't run a OS plug. It will change teh taper of your head button and you won't be able to run anything but OS plugs.

Mr Monty... RB did those low cooling heads 3 or 4 years ago and I felt the same about them back then. Engines were always running hotter and on 100 degree days I would even have symptoms of vapor locking. I used to pull the brand new low profile heads and run an old clapped out head on a brand new engine, I was so over it. The new heads still go down over the case but they made them a good 3 fins taller now and problem solved. Weird to me that Nova did what RB already tried and went away from... Not like they are strangers to one another

Should've been on here sooner, learning what I can.
I got into RC June of last year w/ a Losi 810, and by late July I was racing an 8 2.0 that I bought barely used w/ a Nova 21-4C. The engine was still in the breakin phase. I finished the breakin and raced it 'til October w/ absolutely NO issues. Stored it in my garage w/ afterrun oil in it until last month. It ran ok the first raceday w/ the C5TGC Nova plug that was still in it from October. I switched to a C6TGC because the ambient temp was about 100F w/ high humidity, started stalling in the main but chalked that up to a blown set of clutch bearings. I ordered some Nova C7TGCs and put one in prior to Saturday's (7/7/12) raceday because it was again about 100F here in east TN. After about 5 minutes of racing, the stalling began.... always after a full throttle high speed section or a full throttle big jump after letting off the gas/returning to idle. All this after a complete teardown and rebuild w/ all new bearings thru the whole car and a new prebuilt clutch and bell. Switched pipes from a JP-3 to an Ofna polished 086 in hopes of getting longer runtimes.
After reading thru some of this thread it looks like Nova's recommended plug for hot days is incorrect? Should I really be running a C5 in 100F temps? Or should I look into air leaks or a bad front bearing in my engine?
Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. I am already getting tired of the O.S. drivers saying "Novas are known for flaming out after they get hot" or "after 2 gallons a Nova gets weird".
Thanks,
JJ

It sounds like you are a little too lean on the HSN. I'll bet the flames comes with 1/2 or less fuel left in the tank. JP3 will not give you good runtimes compared to Novarossi 9901. I really like the 086 but doubt it will give you any improvement in runtime over til JP3.

Nova is the best on the marked, period!

You should be fine with the 6's or 7's. I was running with a 6 yesterday and it was about 95 and humid. Mine was doing something similar yesterday, coming down front straight, lifting to make a sweeper and then it would die. Ended up being that I was to lean on the LSN for the heat/humidity. fattened up my LSN approx 2 hours and all was better. It was just a slight out of balance carb.
Keep the input coming cause I tried just about everything w/ no results. Yes the stalling was after about half a tank was gone but there was times when I'd just been refueled after a stall and then stalled w/ a full tank. The only common denominator was that it started after the engine was good and warmed up.

So any flaming issues I had vanished until this weekend, I USED to have problem after piting and figured it out. BUT on the Bonito, every time the tank lid was opened driving away it was "choking" out and flamed twice (really weird sound)....Any ideas??
