What's a good pipe/header combination to use with a modified Plus 4 for linear power?
Also, how well does the Werks 2058 work on the Plus 4?

I've had these rods last up to 10 gallons. But if the mill was properly taken care of I would say between 6-8 gallons would be a good time for replacement in the plus 4. Remember, rods really take a beating when you don't downside jumps. If you land flat and bottom out hard you put unneeded stress on the rod.

If it is my modified Plus 4 the 2096 is the smoothest ....the 2058 has more punch and slightly less peak RPM on stock Werks header..mileage is the same between the two.... The 9901 also works very well......We ran all the pipes on 3 different mod Plus4's/drivers this summer... all the pipes mentioned worked very well... the 2058 gives it more kick, the 2096 has the best peak, and the 9901 seemed slightly stronger then the 2096 off the bottom, but slightly less peak...both equally smooth, the 2096 sounding the best of the two Nova pipes...And as you know the 2058 barks.....Either way the engine ran excellent on all 3 pipes...

as long as top is rich enough it will not hurt the engine to have the lsn lean like that but......
Look at the head button , see if the plug threads in crooked the last thread and a half or so , look on the underside into the combustion bowl and check the plug
seal , if it isnt right you will notice the plug is touching the tapered seal are on one side and will have a gap on the other .
Seen that wreak some havoc on engine tuning

How is the exhaust gasket on the engine and pipe? Sound to me that it gets some air that it is not suppose to. I would also try another pipe, so that it is not anything wrong with it. If the pipe has a dent ( bulk på norsk ) on the largest section ( thickest ) it will not let the exhaust out and it will be blocked. Stinger is not pushed into the pipe?
Interesting info. Must take a look on the head bottom and test the engine with another head. We have tried 2 different 9901 pipes and non of them have deformations and no leaks. But I'll keep it in mind.
I'll get it running perfectly. Otherwise its the very first Plus4 with issues!

Thanks guys.

try a different pipe. the 9901 is nice and smooth, and so is the plus-4. why put them together, i say put a pipe on there that will boost the power a little. i prefer the 9853ss. It gets max power from the plus-4 IMO....also mess around with different headers. I've been really liking the Nova bent headers. 3 lengths to choose from. Great for fine tuning the powerband....and ditch the 6.5mm restrictor if your using that. I always use a 7 or 7.5....and use an Nova plug....Drop the head shimming a little. Sometimes that helps...

Yep, its a lot of fun playing with the "accessories"

But first I'll get the engine to run as it shall with the "normal" setup.
