hi guys,

I'm thinking about getting my first "pure bred" motor lol. i've been playing around with Go's and Alpha's and they were great for learning the ropes of nitro . they suite my budget too!

I've been toying ith the idea of getting something new ever since the struggles with the alphas started. people said they were easy to tune etc etc, but in my noob opinion they aren't..welll at least my Go was easier. My f850 seems to be on a knife edge all the time and it's starting to irritate me. Also, people on the forum said there had to be something wrong with my f850 when i thought i felt it a bit lacking in the bottom..i never knew why..it just felt sluggish down low...not any better than my previous 7 port. then at least 5 guys at my local track said that was exactly why no one was running alphas there anymore...they weren't keeping a tune and they were found lacking in certain areas of the power band. i guess this can be down to our geo location, as we are at altitude (1600m) but i don't know.

I've never thought about getting something "proper" before as they were to expensive for me, and like i have said, i have been learning all this time and still am.

recently i found this on amain:

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ine-Turbo-Plug

its the P5XLT 5 port if you don't wanna follow the link...and when logged into my amain account i can get one for $219...which seems reasonable and most important..well inside my budget. if i can get ons of those NOV/DEC codes, as well as my store credit, i can literally get one for $190 before shipping.

my question to you guys is:

I'm still learing, but this will be my third motor. Are these good motors? easy to tune etc?

and then, what header and pipe goes best with this engine. amain gives recommendations but like 3 different ones.

currently i have a GRP 2053 pipe, could i use this? or will it suck REAL BAD

Thanks for all the help!

For $299.00 you could also consider my modified version... it has no holes in its powerband and a much much better top end then the stock version has.... It is more money, but it will substantially outperform the stock version in bottom end, top end and fuel mileage....

Hi
How would you guys compare the 2084 with the
9901 on a BTT for a Buggy?

Actually I have the 2084.
Is it worth to buy a 9901 pipe?

Hey for almost the same price you can get the Nitrotec/Nova/Losi R21 which has the plus 4 cnc piston/ R7 conrod / 17011 front bearing from plus 4. I run one now and it runs with Werks motors all day also get 12-13 minutes a tank. I ran a jx.21 before the R21 and it's a great motor but this 3 port is super smooth and never flames. It's like the commercial set it and forget it when comes to tune. The only con is long break-in 1-2 gallons but race ready after 2-3 quarts and only gets better thru time! The only issues I have had were user error! I gain nothing from this advice so just know that you don't have spend a ton of money to get a good mill!

Sideshow,

What are you looking to put it in? The XLT is a good truggy mill to have. In a buggy maybe not so much though I do know guys that run XLT's in a buggy.

The stock XLT is solid with the execption of the front bearing. The stock bearing will work for a little bit but the 17001 (I think that's the number) is much better. I have that in my Truggy right now and get 10 minutes easy. On some large tracks it might not have the top end as some other mills, but it's not enough to make it slow.

Pipes are the 9853, 2084,2096, and 9901 (if in a buggy)
Hearder is the 021 Rossi header.

Don't know about the pipe you posted, but it could get the job done, just may not be the best pipe to use.

If you are looking for a buggy mill, the Plus4 is a very popular choice and is very smooth on power.

i had the 9901 with medium bend with the nov4BTT and switched to
RB 2087 with the Rb204mm(long).

the best result was longer run time and more power from the bottom.
With the 9901 i did have som problems to clear jumps if they were close to
a curve.
Its also more easy to rotate the car in the curve...

there are so many variables none of us can even begin to answer that

you should easily get 8 1/2 minutes with a proper tune and almost any novarossi pipe ( pipe is very important)

Can someone explain the power band differences between the Plus 4 4-port and the P5XLT?

I've never ran Novas and don't know much about them but a friend is thinking of picking one up.

Thanks

Exactly
