Default 45T rear gear diff

Hi,

I find this rather ridiculous. I got a new serpent rear gear dif 45T (802600). My rear probelt (801256) worn off very fast probably 2 to 3 outing and I never have any problem with the standard rear ball diff before this.

I have no more pro belt in stock any more, so then i use back the standard 710 belt. I found it has a lot of rotaring resistance as compare to the ball diff. Not sure why. then i took out everthing and trying to do a finding.

It looks like something is very wrong here... the gear diff teeth has been in a wrong measurement... i guess this must be the quality control issues.

Has anyone out there know about this problem.

You mean between the 710 and 720? Mostly are but not everything. If you do a search, someone posted the list in the 720 thread.

You raise a question ... Serpent stopped making the pro-belts and when they released the 720, the rear gear diff now measure 47t. It is possible that the rear standard belt you use is meant for the 720? I'm guessing here but maybe there are two different kind of rear belts. I should know these things but its been winter here and I've not touched RC for 4 months!

Is that possible to get the 47T to fit in 710?

There is only one type of rear belt. It fits both the 710 and 720.
I do not think it is possible to put a 47t diff in a 720 but I haven't tried. I think you will have a very very tight rear belt.

I emailed Serpent USA and was told that the 47T diff could be put in the 710. But then I remembered the belt tension issue and think that I was told it would fit since the diffs from both cars share the same dimensions. Now, whether the belt will fit around the pulley is another story

And that belt looks almost like it's a different pitch, though I'd expect the belt not to fit around more of the circumference of the pulley if that was the case.

I noticed we still have that problem in 47T pulley but not that obvious as compare to 45T pulley. if you still mange to get the old 705 rear ball diff pulley 47T. use that in your 710 ball diff and put in 720. you can see there is a different in term of smoothness of the belt turn.

Obviously there is still some minor problem there just that how many people care about it.

Thanks for the tip...I'll get the ball diff pulley instead of the 47t gear diff.

Default 45T Ball diff covered with silicon oil

With this little inovation here, finally we got a ball diff runing with oil. You need 100k above gear diff oil or a high temp grease to get a good resistance, smoothness and consistance.
