If you dont mind running sponge you can run Tamiya "C" car rear tires and wheels for the 70s cars. I do it for my classic body cars as it looks the correct size. The Tamiya "C" tires are also more sponge than rubber so they have a lot of grip.

What servo is prefered in this class. Obviously it will only take a standard sized, and likely doesn't need 120+oz touring servo, but does anyone find the need for something other than a 'standard' servo

Is there any performance/grip difference between the Mclaren, Ferrari, or other bodies of the same model kits?
What is the best Tamiya rear & front rubber tires to get?
Which kit out of the F104's generates the best grip?

if you order the f104 wing kit from 3racing, they supply one of these in addition to the front, rear wings, rear diffuser.

I havent tested the Mclaren body, but comparing the generic F-104 body to the Ferrari F60 body showed the ff: (it was confirmed by Danny Hua, the TCS F-1 champ)

Ferrari F60 has more rear downforce hence slight understeer
F-104 body has more front downforce hence slight oversteer

mixing wings and body combinations is not allowed in Tamiya-sanctioned races but may be allowed in others.

im also considering testing non-tamiya F-104-compatible bodies and compare them as well... results soon

the option Hard front/ Soft rear of tamiya for the F-104 seems to work well. just sauce it up a bit with traction compound (if allowed in your races) and if you have tire warmers handy, use 'em.

and as far as F-104 kits having best grip? i'd say its the Pro kits (standard ver. or black ver.) since it has hopups which make the car good to drive. as opposed to the stock kits...

I plan on getting one of these early next year and am doing some prepping now. Any place to get decals the right size based on real F1 cars? Im not really a ferrari guy, but bmw/redbull would look great.

I really like the savox low-profile servo. I found by mounting it facing up, with , that it reduces any bumpsteer, and is squared with the front.
