rx8 drag brake

Hey guys, got a Tekin rx8 /4.5 in my truck, got the system used (like new) anyhow my question is I noticed the drag break set at 36 .. would this much drag brake make my truck nose dive over jumps? I know my set up will affect how it jumps ... but is 36 to high?

If you're letting off the throttle completely when you jump, then yes, it will make your truck nose dive over jumps

Looking for some feedback on the Track Star orings. Anyone had a chance to run them yet?

Just got around to installing mine tonight, they seem really smooth

+1
this should be the first thing done to this truck, get rid of the x-rings, and get the trackstar o-rings. No leakage, no sticktion, and smooth as silk.

Call me ignorant but my shocks seem to work good, are these going to make them that much better?

Yup...between 30 and 50 is typically how I set up my on-road stuff, just because I'm so used to brushed motors.... 30+ will definitely make you nosedive off of jumps if you let off entirely....

I thought the same, but yes, the orings help. Witht he xrings i needed almost twice the preload on my shock that i am currently running to get the same rebound of 28mm. as soon as i switched, the shocks seemed so much more free.

ok cool, I'll have to look into that.

website to order rings?

I run no drag brake on my truck, maybe I should to help it nose over better?? Sometimes my nose is up, down, just depends.

I bought a set off ebay but I don't understand how to make them work on this truck. Could you please post some pics of how you set them up? Was there any other parts needed?

sick paint job, was it expensive?

Hi Jeff,

I think Thunder prices his paint jobs according to how intricate the design is. I dont want to say how much I paid because he's a personal friend. Send him an email if your intetested...he's a good guy

So for me it's both, loose if I drive like an idiot and on rails if I drive within my limits. The Cav setup on rc10.com is what I've been running before that setup was even published, works really good for me.

+1 here too. These things are really nice. Most will have to go down in wt any way with the sways that are coming out. Perfect time to change these out.

I felt the truck was tail-happy all day and then after the Main I let one of the local fast guys try it and he thought it felt pretty good and was able to get it around the track way better than me. He gave me a few pointers and then I was able to drive it quite a bit cleaner. As long as I don't push it really hard it seems to behave pretty well and get around the track quickly.

Cheers,
Mike

I think a lot of people are trying to drive it like they see the other 4x4's being driven, point and stab. This is a precise machine without a center diff and should be driven precisely. It will reward you. I am getting better and my fast lap at 702 here in Vegas was just .6sec off the fastest guy (losi). Had I been able to stay consistent and not push the truck more than I could drive capably than I would have proly gotten 3rd maybe even second.
