1/8th scale tires are over the top for modds. i wont use them plus my track wont allow them if needed i will try a pair of sc10 goosebumps as goosebumps are well known at my track for hooking up but thats as far as i'll go for a magor tire modd. 1/8th scale wheels/tires just take away to much from this class. this class isnt about being glued to the track its about sliding around and racing a loose truck just like real pro 2 class racing. thats why this class is so popular allowing thease kind of modds will kill this class trust me.

see, I don't think the class is so popular b/c of the scale appearance as it is b/c of the ability to bump and rub fenders. That's what this class is all about to me. I like being able to take the inside of a turn into someone, or for that fact, have it done to me, and know that neither one of us(or both of us) has to get spun out. That's what makes this class so much fun. You can bump into each other all around the track and know that you don't necessarily need to take the other guy out by doing so. That's what makes for a more realistic racing experience:)

thats cool i kinda see youre point and i kinda dont yes this class is fun due to the rubbing on each other but i think that kinda goes away when the trucks are so stuck and dialed to the track mainly due to tires but thats just me simply put i just think the buggy wheels/tires just are plain ugly on the corr trucks i just like the kmc style wheels as it completes the real look of the truck. im not gonna bash on anybody for modding corr truck tires. some tracks will allow different rules.

I spent all day today sliding around a bone dry track w/ spent stock tires and it was one of the most exciting laps I had!

It was almost like this:

ALMOST

after getting to the track for the first time with mine today, I now understand why everyone is doing all the mods to their trucks. Didn't help much that it was a really lose dirt track. it was deffinatly hard to control it. I did however manage to get a few laps in between spin outs though

mcdonaldsracer, I see you are racing two different classes with your SC10. I was wondering what the lap time difference was between the two classes.

Actually, I'm running in a spec class and a modified class. I run a stock slash in the spec class and I've been switching b/w my SC10 and modified slash in the mod (Prolite) class. I ran my SC10 in our first heat this past weekend and ended up stripping out a wheel on about the 6th or 7th lap. After that I switched to my mod slash for the 2nd heat and the main, just b/c I felt pretty confident in it's ability to hold up and not break. I'm running 1/8th scale tires on my mod slash along with the MM5700, and on my SC10 in that heat I was running the MM with a 4600 excelorin motor with the goosebumps. With the SC10 I believe my fastest laps were around the 43-44 sec range. With the mod slash I was running anywhere from 40-42 sec laps very consistently and the average lap time was just under 42 sec until I stripped the spur. With my stock slash I was running around 43 sec lap times just b/c I was able to take a much smoother line around the course and avoid spinning out and losing control. As of right now, I don't think anyone at our track has been able to break into the 30's, but it may happen soon enough. In our prolite class, in order to be competitive you have to run the 1/8th scale buggy tires, as that is what all the top guys are running. So if I want to run the SC10 in our prolite class, then I have no choice but to run the buggy tires if I want to stay competitive with the truck. After running it with the buggy tires out at the track yesterday, I have no doubt that I will be able to run just as quick, if not quicker, than my modified slash. In order to be competitive in that class you have to run in the 40-42 sec range consistently, so without the buggy tires my SC10 will be left at home sitting on the workbench. This is just the situation I am faced with, so do I stick to the scale look and continue to get frustrated or do I mod the hell out of it in order to run with the lead pack? I like running at the front, as that is what I'm there to do, so I'm choosing to run the buggy tires:)

Cool thanks. I'm going to get some adapters for mine since I have a ton of 1/8 scale buggy wheels and tires. They are not legal at our track but I like to travel and they may be legal elsewhere. :)

SC10s and did you notice how small the rythem section was if my track was that small I could run stock tires but our track was made for 1/8 scale truggies. I need all the tire, motor and suspension I can get.

lol yea thats how the track that I race at is every mod is def helpful.

Just installed the inline frt axles and 30deg caster blocks. and did the losi mod to the rear.the truck tracks straight and turning is controlled. Did anyone else who did the losi rear hub mod have a little more noise from the driveshafts area. italso dosent coats as smoothly either. but it runs fine with all that power.

Raul Garcia 05-16-2009 07:23 PM

I installed my losi 1* rear hubs last night. I just had a couple of issues. What size is the hinge pin exaclty, 1/8 is to small. Also the center bearing support between the two is actually larger and you need the Losi spacer pack for the proper spacing and crush on the bearings. if not your going to tear apart the bearings from excessive torque on the inner race. On another note, the new hubs added some of the stabilty to my truck that allowed for me to do really well with it on a hard pack clay track. I tqd, and won my main by a lap.. The truck is dialed.
