Gearing ?

Have a Sc10 RS. Put a Havoc Pro Sc in with a 8.5 Ballistic motor. Running on high bite clay track, medium to large size track. If I keep the 87 spur, what pinion should I use? Thanks for your responses.

Based on what someone else provided when I asked, start with this:

http://www.teamnovak.com/tech_info/b...r_gearing.html

use the truck FDR recommendation.

This is assuming no timing on the ESC.

I dont have a listing. I traded my cw sprint car to a buddy for it. He had just recieved it the night before we traded. Poor little unwanted SC10. Lol, thanks for the help. I assume the wheels will say which model they are for? I guess i should plan on running hexes. Whats all this talk of shimming and crush tubes? I guess I will tear it apart when I get it and see how it all goes together. Thats usually how I roll!! :D

Watson La? I will probably be down at Scott for the rc pro race this year. You plan on attending?

anyone running or planning to run that avid steering rack?

I don't understand what the whole gluing the servo saver does.

i glued the rack on my B4 and the steering did seem to feel more responsive. i plan to glue the rack on my SC10 for the race this weekend. I've got one of the AVID steering racks on the way so we will see....

I should be able to report back on the GPM steering rack setup after the race sunday assuming the weather holds.

For servos looks like it will be an Airtronics 94358 and possibly the Hitec TG one for testing.

just run the 18t and it should be more than enough for the track. monitor temps and see what you will need more, ie gear down for more torque or up for more speed. just depends on the layout and how much you would really need to use as far as speed

I recently purchased a Reedy 5500 60c battery....my truck still has the stock esc/motor...and I noticed NO appreaciable performance gain over my 5000 40c Gens ace batt.....I have a 7.5sonic with lrp sxx comp esc on order....will the reedy batt be more effective with this combo?.....or is the reedy battery really no better than my gens ace battery....

If the ESC can handle the extra C rating yes. You will feel something.
The Stock ESC is crap and more than likely won't know if your battery is a 1c or a 100c

Temps only reaching 100 Deg. Tons of bottom end, need more top end. Going by the formula, I should be using 21 or 22 pinion.

The battery doesn't matter till it matters.

In a 2w dirt car, the battery doesn't matter very much because you are traction limited and just can't really pull the amps out of it.

In something with traction and big amp draw, the battery matters a lot because the lower C rated batteries like the Gens Ace stop working faster because the discharge demanded of them is higher than what they are really designed for.

While not perfect, one way that can tell you if you need to look at buying higher C batteries is how much charge they take after the longest race you'll run. In my 2w, it will only take 1700 mah after ten minutes of track time, so literally any battery is going to be fine. In my 4w, it takes 3700-4200 mah after ten minutes, and I'd be afraid of the 40c Gens Ace in that application.

Did that answer your question?

Just found out my truck has the bearing/pin set up on the wheels. I assume all i need to convert the rear are the hexes. What do i need for the front? Spindles, axles and hexes? Is the c hub the same?

Cain 01-26-2012 09:44 AM

Ae has a link to what you need on there site, but yeah you need the axle, carrier, and hexes.

Im not 100% sure. I my sc10 to go run at nitro toys in flowood ms.kinda got burned out on being outside.. in the sun..and cooking dust into my face all day last season racing 8th scale lol. And in jackson they have a solid 2wd 13.5 turnout.I like that rather than open mod and not knowing if anyone will show up. I think a few if the full throttle guys frequently hit jackson..

Yea, Flowood is a big deal around here all of a sudden. TNT is building an indoor 1/10 scale track. They should be getting the layout done soon. Are you coming up for the dialed race?
