what ride height are you guys running as far as to your eye not truly measured.

i was running arms level all around but it was a little tippy so I just threw my arms below all around i will try that out..

Thats what I run. She hugs the pipes tight.
Also have about an ounce behind the motor on the rear bumper stand off's to help with traction. It made a world of difference. 35 wt in the front and 30 wt in the rears. It floats over the bumps better than my 1/8 and 4x4.

Are you referring to this setup? What kind of track setup/conditions are you running on?

You loose some straight line stability but I believe you'll gain some corner speed.

I'll prob. just leave the 1*'s in there because that D3 has so much power it'll keep breakin' loose down the straight if I drop any more rear end traction

It's not that you'll loose traction by going to the 0* hubs, you'll just loose stability. The truck will be quite a bit more sensitive to steering inputs in a straight line. But yes, if your motor has a lot of power you're better off with the 1* hubs to keep the truck pointed in a straight line easier

I'd like to slap a D3 in my truck for the race this wknd but they're out of stock.

How are they compared to a Novak Ballistic.

I'm talking 17.5 motor.

Thanks

Asharus 11-10-2011 07:37 PM

i hear they're awesome compared to our motor....... the revtech may be even better though...

JEFFs SC10 11-10-2011 07:42 PM

So Revtech is better than the D3? I think those are in stock at my lhs.

Asharus 11-10-2011 07:48 PM

go for it! i have one on hold for me at amain but i havent pulled the trigger yet. my sponsor (aka american express) is not allowing me to just yet.

JEFFs SC10 11-10-2011 08:05 PM

racing is this sat, so I'm gonna hope I can find something around here.

I tell ya what before I smoked my Ballistic (ran way too much timing) that thing was fast! I was very impressed with it. Not that speed wins races but its nice when you can whack it on the straightaway and get some good speed goin! :tire:

Asharus 11-10-2011 08:09 PM

ya i like my ballistics too, but ive heard great things about the RTs

idrummerboy13 11-10-2011 08:17 PM

moters

yea since were all talking about it

i only use novak just becuase everyone around here uses and reccamend, lrp i hear alot of bad stuff, orion i have seen 4 failed motors in a guys car who really takes car of it, so far i read revtech and reedy motors are great so I am really willing to try em out...:tire: i feel like novaks run really great with lrp

I've ran the Ballistic motors in the past and they are a good motor.

The D3 is a very good motor and can handle it when you miss the gearing a bit or bump the timing to much and run it hot. I've had mine hit the 195 mark and it still runs great. I've never had a problem with any of the D3 motors I've ran and they just never seem to run out of top end.

The Revtech motor performs equally well but has a bit more bottom end to it than the D3 which makes it a great motor for the tight indoor tracks or just any track that has the jumps right after the corners.

If I have to point someone in the direction of a motor I would suggest a D3 or Revtech but you could say I'm a bit biased

In all fairness though, all 3 motors are very good and you won't be disappointed in any of them. Hope that helps a little.

Don
