With the new V2 shocks it is so much easier to rebuild them. +1 on the being bored and rebuilding shocks, that is usually the only reason I rebuild them.

Rubbing rear springs

I've ben running the B44 front spring cups on the rear, they have a taller shoulder to help align the spring, they seem to work pretty good.

Has anyone tried the RPM spring cups??

What do you guys think about strapping the SC10 tires with duct tape (I'm using JConcept Subcultures on all 4 / green compound / closed-cell foam)? I always used to strap the tires on my E-Revo 1/16, and it was a big help, but I also didn't race that truck. This FT SC10 is my first short course truck, so I am wondering if you guys do that or not? Thanks

No one I know does that.

I have heard of people doing that but I have never seen it myself.

There are a couple reasons people would do that to the tires but first, what class are you racing? If you are racing stock there really is no need because the tires don't get going fast enough to really balloon out very much, hence no reason to do it. Also, you want the least amount of rotating weight and the least amount of weight out on the end of the a arm travel. Also it could mess with the balance of your tire and when they do still balloon a little even with the tape in them, they probably wouldn't be even around the diameter of the wheel. Just my thoughts, i used to do it on my bashing cars that went 60+ mph but never felt the need on the track.

Sorry but I have no idea what you are talking about when you say strapping tires. Can you elaborate. I don't think I would ever do this but am interested

Strapping tires gives up grip in the slower sections. Generally only a nitro thing. More info here:

It's when you take your tire, flip it inside out, and put a piece of duct tape the entire way around the tire. It sounds like it wouldn't do all that much, but it makes a noticeable difference when you spin the tire at high speeds. I have a brushless E-Revo 1/16 that I use for bashing, but it is veryyyy fast. I was having issues with traction b/c my wheels were ballooning at high speeds and coming to a point in the middle. By strapping them, even at high speeds, they stay almost completely flat and there is very little ballooning even when running a 3S LiPo in it. Here's the video I watched to learn how to do it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YP6iTaetz5k

However, you guys on here know much more about short course then I do, so I suppose I'm not gonna strap these tires. Oh and btw, I am planning to run in the modded class, and will be running a MMP esc with a LRP X-12 7.5T or 13.5T, haven't decided yet what motor is better to get.

so far what I have come up with
novak 17.5= 2200kv
orion vortex vst pro 17.5= 2280kv
tekin 17.5=2500kv
any others and anyone know the the kv's with tuning rotors for any of these?

So after reading this again and checked some things out. I do have a question that goes with those numbers

Even though a motor is rated at 17.5T and is ROAR legal etc etc.
Do each motor company rate the KV the same way?
Vipers 17.5T is 1900kv
Novaks 17.5T is 2200kv
Trinity's RevTech is 3000kv

SO even though the Turn is the same. Does the larger kv rating mean that 17.5T motor will be faster per say. More RPM more top end power as the Viper will have more tq due to a lower kv??

I am getting ready to order a system with a 17.5T and it's getting a little hard to find the right one.

sc10 gear diff ??

I am building my sc10 for this coming season. I have a question about the gear diff.

Most of the tracks I race at are slick to medium grip. I am trying to find out what diff oil/weight to use?

Thanks

Mike, Use anywhere from 7k to 15k for Rogers track. you will need to find out what you like in that range. I have been running 10k but if I travel to Awesome or Wilson, and the traction is high, I will go to 15k. 10k works pretty good for me just about everywhere. Its my standard set up.

Brent. I have the viper vtx10 esc in my ft sc10. I have tested the viper, reedy sonic, lrp x12, and the Novak ss 17.5's. And with the same settings in the esc the reedy sonic has out preformed them all. The viper would be my second choice than the lrp and the Novak last. I am waiting on my revtech 17.5 so I will let u know.
