I bought the RTR what mods, if any will make it more competitive for racing, but still stay ROAR legal

i finally got around after 2 months and the stuff sitting in my real truck  the 17.5 havoc from novac and a tower 140 digital servo . i must say the havoc system is nice and powerful and tuning options great. the steering metal gear digital servo a cheap and great upgrade and enough power at 6v to turn the tires and i also needed to turn down the dual rated a bit lol .
gonna have me some fun :sneaky:

Finally broke down and ordered my RS 17.5! Now the painful wait for it to get here!

First off - ROAR says 17.5 brushless and 27 turn brushed are the motors of choice.

Then a faster servo if you enjoy steering responce.

And maybe some different tires, if they show a noticable improvement at the tracks you may be running.

Is the Tower Servo any good? It doesn't seem to have much torque??? Enough for the truck though?. You say a good upgrade? Much better than the standard AE servo??

Cheers

i am not sure what comes in the RTR but in my kit i thought the 3305 was good untill i put the tower digital servo in. now mind you when i got it the thing was made by hitech but sold under tower name . now the same 140 is made by hobbico and the only one that tower sells is the 160 and the parts are listed as hitech . so i must of gotten the better servo before the change. the new 140 tower with red black white wires http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXPHD3&P=SM
and the 160 like the one i got but in the 140 with yellow wires
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXPHD5&P=SM

if you check the parts for both the 160 parts are from hitech not hobbico so i kinda lucked out and got the 59.00 hitech version lol

What are you guys running your 13.5s for gearing? I tried 22/75 today and it treated me well, could have went up in teeth on the pinion because it was running in the one-teens temp wise. Another racer was using 24/84 IIRC.

So what are others succesfully using? And what didn't work.

With my Tekin rs equipped sc10 I am currently geared 27/75 for med sized tracks. I would not suggest gearing this high unless you can actively adjust the timing on the motor with a tekin RS or KO propo.

I just had my best night with my SC winning the mod SC A. I was shocked to find out I was 26/75 getting 140 after 5min heat ( I thought is was 24/75). I am going to start over with a 10.5 next time out with 24/87 and see how that goes.

I'm building an SC10 kit right now and decided I'm going to run it in our "Stock" Corr class. Rules there are stock tires, motor, and speedo, so I ended up buying the RTR motor and speedo. Manual shows using an 18T pinion with the Radon motor but that seems small. The gearing chart shows 24T for a 17 turn Mod, isn't that what the Radon is? Anyone else running RTR motor and speedo, what are you running for gearing?

You will learn to HATE the stock SC10 tires on the track. The Slash are much better and maybe that is what you were talking about anyway.

I hate the stock tires. Part of the problem is the foam. Those tires are rock hard.

Guys here are saying the SC10 tires work better than the Slash tires. Just like any other tire I guess, depends on your track. But yeah, I can run either tire, motor, or speedo.

Whats a solid short course wheel that fits a stock SC10 and won't strip/break? I think I may have the older style wheels that came with my kit.

Try the J Concept Rulux wheels for the SC10.
