Default novarossi BX21

Looking for info on this engine Novarossi SBK01 bx21. It has what looks to series numbers engraved on the side 1000 111 And the crank and sleeve appear to be modified.
Anyone know what they mean?

Maybe done by the legend himseld, Ron Paris original modified? Can't remember if he actually placed his name on the side or not....that engine is surely back in the days when he was around.

I had REX SBK01 as my first 1/8 buggy engine. It was a beast! If i remember correctly it was a square stroke, 5 port. Pretty good all around engine. It would be right with the RB and Sirio engines of the time.

As far as Paris modding it, quite possible but I think Ron passed away in 2001. So it depends on the year. I had one of his .12 touring car engines. That thing had a mid-range kick that you thought a single speed touring car had a 2 speed in it.

The sbk is a short stroke. Lots of bottom end but not the best fuel economy. I don't remember many people pitting longer than 6:30-7 minutes with one. The p5 basically replaced it.

Is it possible for the carb needles or most likely the o-rings to wear put on a motor? I have a mito 4 and it seemed no matter what tuning we attempted it just kept high revving. We put an older 2 needle carb like the bonito carb and the motor runs great.

You could have a bad o-ring on one of the needles. Do you often turn the needles all the way in and then back out some number of turns?

AMain are out of sock of the P5 Piston/liner set. Where else can I get one at a fair price that isn't $50.00 freight like novarossi direct.
Shipping to New Zealand.

Cheers

I just got a mito 4 pre broken. Says to run 7 to 8 tanks till race ready, is there anything specific that I need to to during this process? Also can someone tell me how to operate the medium needle. This is my first engine that uses the medium needle
Thanks

Hello All,

Looking for a recommendation.

I have an HPI savage with extended chassis. I'm considering picking up the Novarorassi 28-8 Pull start engine.

Can you guys recommend a manifold and exhaust to go with this engine?

Also, any gearing and clutch recommendation would be appreciated as well. I do a lot of bashing, but would like something with a good balance of speed and power. I don't care for wheelies.
