hahaha so this happened yesterday

Probably should have paid closer attention to the clearance between piston and headbutton. top bushing shattered and the bottom rounded and squished out.

Yikes.

There was an upper rod bushing? I've never had an engine with an upper bushing before.

All Novarossi's have upper rod bushings.

I know JP had optional an R6 conrod (no upper bushing) with a DLC coated piston pin. Not sure if it is used in other engines as well

I recently picked up a Mito 7 for buggy. I've been running the 9901ss/41021 combo, but it leaves a lot to be desired and the tuning window is SMALL with the 5.48mm restrictor. I've only ran one race with it though, and I ran what I had with me at the track.

I figure that the 9901 chokes the engine down too much, and the 5.48mm restrictor makes it even worse.

I've read hundreds and hundreds on pages on here learning about all of the different pipe/header/restrictor combinations, but I still need a little direction.

I'm looking for controllable power. I really like my engines to have a lot of range throughout the throttle pull, rather than immediate power. My throttle finger isn't the best. Are 10 minute fuel stops out of the question? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

Edit: I found this video- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eg2A...ature=youtu.be

Looks like my biggest issue is the restrictor size. I'll throw in the reccommended 7mm and give it a shot this weekend.

Bass, Who modified that piston for you? It look like there is been cut down about 1mm.Maybe they didn't set your engines piston clearance correctly.

Yeah that hack didnt check, it was me haha. I think the issue was switching from a non turbo to a turbo plug. I didnt really measure the clearance just assumed the usual 0.7mm shimming would work.It didnt at all haha, literally one high speed pass and it flamed and that was the result.
That was one of those $100 novas from absolute, being a stubborn jackass im going to try again this time with a dial indicator

Dont ever run 9901 pipe with 4ports engine, run 2096 or 9886 if permitted.

Venturi 5.48 for small track? Try 7 for best performance

Same goes with mito 7 unless u running a medium straight... Just try 2096. I find 9901 is a no go for 4ports n 7ports unless a small medium track

9901 rips much harder then a 2096 on the 4 ports... awesome pipe... Just cannot be used with a 41021...9901/41021 stinks... however 9901/41001 rips hard... so hard nobody would use a 2096 unless they were looking to reduce power....
YANMAN and dan_vector like this.

9901, 41001 works awesome on the Legend 4 for us.
