Hey guys, I may be going the nitro route. What I need to know is if there is a BEC issue with the DX3 stock receiver like what you would see on the XS3 stock RS300 receivers (4.8V max versus the full 6.0V)

Thanks!

I thought the BEC issue was due more to the ESCs rather than the receiver. I had a Q2 and all kinds of trouble when I went to digital servos using teh 300 receiver but then changed to a GTX and never had a problem using same receiver.

Look back one page...

Last week or so...

Hi, Sorry if this has been asked before but does any one know if the new SR3500 micro receiver needs the power cap voltage protector?
The Spektrum website states that the new receiver has a built in voltage protector but would like to hear from anyone who has run the new receiver without the cap without any issues.

Seems a shame to have such a small receiver and such a large power cap!

Thanks

(Oh and its for 1/10th TC)

British Menace, I run almost exclusively digitals with my Spektrum Equipment and it works great. Mostly JR 8800S' and 9000S'. That's in my Sedans, 4wd Buggy, 2wd Mod Truck, and my nitro stuff.

Cain, the SR3000 hasn't had any BEC issues with nitro that I know of. Until the SR3500 Micro receiver came out, that's all I ran in my nitro cars. Worked perfectly. New is right that the BEC issue stemmed from an ESC not having a high enough BEC, not the receiver.

Steve, you really shouldn't need the Voltage Protector. At least I have yet to find an issue where I've needed to use mine since switching to the SR3500's. I still need to test this in my Mini-LST. I have a Tekin Brushless system in it and with the SR3000, I couldn't run without the Voltage Protector; It would just sputter and shutter if I grabbed full throttle with it until I installed the Voltage Protector.

Thanks for the info!

Hey Gary,
Will Spektrum eventually release the micro receiver and a transmitter module as a package? (please say yes  )

RCGaryK 06-15-2006 12:53 PM

I don't know if there are any plans to do new packages with the SR3500 and TX modules. Sorry.

Alright Gary, I bit the bullet and ordered a Spektrum Pro. I had one of the first Spektrum systems and never had any real "problems" with it, but I just started struggling on the track. My lap times suffered, I wasn't running as smooth as I had been, and couldn't really figure out whet the problem was. I took out the Spektrum and put my synthesized back in and viola, started running better. I never was able to feel any delay or glitching and never had it shut down, but something about it just wasn't right. I really want this technology to become the norm so I'm willing to give the Pro a shot. Anything I need to know ahead of time?

BTW- Were you at the Reedy Race? I thought I saw you across the track when I was waiting on the ramp to the drivers stand but I wasn't sure.

RCGaryK 06-16-2006 10:14 AM

Yeah I was there. Greg needed someone to cover it and I was available :)

I have to tell you that I really dig the new Pro Series stuff. There's nothing to know or any special "tricks". Just plug and go dude and you'll be just fine. OH, and just for comparison sake, I threw my old Helios Module into my Z-1 to do some back to back comparison testing between the standard 27MHz equipment and the Pro Series modules. No different in lap times. None. And I had TQed and Won for several weeks in a row at that track, so Its not that "all the laps were slow" or anything like that. It's good stuff.

That's what I wanted to hear. I should have it for next weekend. We'll see then ;)
