im actually not running boost on my 4wd just 205mod software. has no trouble keeping up with the boosted cars because the track has no long straights.
start out with small amounts of boost and work your way up as you want it to continue to climb all the way to the corner .

Here is the way I see it. I race on a smaller tight Indoor track with a straight that might be between 80 to 100 ft. Come summer, when many will switch to an outdoor track, I can see the choice in motor changing.
With the 2wd, i figured I would need to go a tad faster. Talking with a pro, he said that he was almost at the max running 7.5 in 4wd, so i figured if I up the timing and changed to boosted software, an 8.5 in 4wd could be made quick.
What's a realistic amount of boost one needs in 2wd and 4wd?

it would be cool if the firmware's could have more laymen names to them as when initially showing them to someone they looked at me like I had a second head. (coming from castle gear, its V1.32 etc)

Hey everyone. Just wanted to report back on my experiences with the Speed Passion GT2.0 Pro and LPF in 2wd Truck and SCT respectively.
Both vehicles were running Novak Ballistic 17.5s in an open class, tight indoor carpet over jumps. Both motors with timing retarded to 20 degrees each instead of stock 30 degrees.
Here are the settings for both vehicles (323 software):
Drag brake. 0
DRRS. 9
Brake force. 75%
Rev. force. 75%
Initial brake. 0%
Neutral range. 6%
Boost timing. 30 deg
Turbo slope. 18 deg
Overheat protection. on
Turbo timing. 12 deg
Boost start rpm. 4000
Turbo delay. Off
Timing acc. 100
The track is about 50 x 50 or so, and was setup with a lot of 180s with the final jump having a 180 before you get to it, then a 90 degree turn followed by another 90 degree turn before another jump. You carry your most speed here.
The problem I was having was with my settings against the field, I had just enough power to clear that jump if I maintained some speed or took the turn slightly wide to have some run up. Others could just punch it almost from a dead stop and clear the jump.
Now, I may have the wrong motor setup here since this is an open class, I can accept that and have a 10.5 setup for both vehicles on the ready, but right now I just am getting out *punched* over this section.
playing with the gearing though, I would be down on overall speed where I needed it (could see me topping out sooner than other cars).
So, in this situation, what would someone suggestion initially to try?
Sweat spot for the vehicles are far as gearing goes was about 22T pinion / 84T Spur. going higher I felt the motors would fade and temps were higher than I liked. Speed would go up of course, with a little loss of punch.
the competition is regularly running anywhere from 8.5 motors to castle 4600Kv or the 4 pole 3800kv motor.

well, I never have ran Orion esc's, I ended up going with an LRP couple weeks ago....I have only ran Tekin for stock and LRP for mod. I ran Orion motors in the past but I am now running Murfdogg . I really like the smooth feel of the LRP esc's but my sxx v2 just died Saturday first day on the track, now Im running an older sphere TC. I have always heard good things about Speed Passion and Im interested in learning more about the new pro version of the Reventon.

They are very smooth. for even 2wd the reverton r series is more then capable. it just won at the euros in 2wd this past weekend as well. ill be down at smac here in a few weeks and you can try my rango 4wd with the gt 2.0 pro esc in it. lrps are good but i learned that you need to run the tc version most of the time with the new sxx lineup if running anything lower then a 8.5
