Default Esc setup- speed passion with 8.5 in losi 22

Thanks for the reply to my original message outside of this thread. Im still mightily confused.

I have loaded on V3 119 MOD which has confused me even more. having been told turbo not needed but use boost, the boost seems to be disabled yet turbo is all turned on lol.

So i have loaded the 205MOD as suggested.

I also have no physical timing adjustment on the motor. so its purely down to software, which makes me think i might need to run a tad boost or turbo, but not having a real understanding of how it all works yet i could be blowing smoke lol.

could someone please explain things to me, i feel terribly out of my depth.

Hi all
I have been away from racing for a while and am now just getting back into things with a losi 22.

I have opted for the hobbywing xtreme stock esc with a hw 8.5 motor.
I have tonight put the latest speed passion software on both the programming card and the esc but am a bit lost of programming setup for off road.

I have turned turbo off but it seems a bit lame. Do people run turbo with of road despite hw and sp saying not too?

Can anyone recommend any basic or detailed settings that are going to keep my losi as fast as the 7.5 and 6.5 motors that will be running Unboosted?

Thanks

Steve

I just got another LPF for my 4wd buggy and was curious about which firmware I needed to run. I have an 8.5 in it and was wondering if I had to run the 205 mod firmware or if I could just use the 323 stock with the boost turned down with no turbo? I"ve been told both ways.

I'd like to use 323 since I only have one LCD box and use it on my 10.5 buggy as well. If I need to use the mod firmware, what's the main reason/difference between it and the 323?

You can use the same box to program speedos running different software. Remember, when you flash software, you connect the box to PC and speedo, and the software actually loads from PC. For programming, you just connect the box to the speedo and it will read whatever software you have on the speedo. I run 323 Stock generally in 2wd and 205 Mod in 4wd, can program both just fine with same box. Have not run 323 Stock with lower wind motors. They say you can, just be careful with the boost and turbo. Probably some setups for it on website.

I also had a chance to run the new 4400kv 540 4 pole motor this weekend, and all I can say is wow, its a rocket. I am using it with my SP 2.0 Pro, profiles in 119mod, 528mod, 205mod. It runs like a top.

Howard, get in touch with me please. I have a few questions.

You can use the 323 stock for a mod motor, just turn down the boost and turbo and turn up the last setting, # 15, to about 400-600 adjusting for temps. The lower the number in the last setting, the hotter temps will be. For 2wd buggy 2-400 should be fine, and 4wd 400-600 depending on how much boost timing and turbo you use. You have to try to do a couple laps and make adjustments to find the blend of settings you like. With an 8.5 on a small track just run it with very little of both, on a bigger track you might want a little boost and some turbo to kick in on a long straight. Spend a day playing with the settings and you'll be fine.

Also, remember that Turbo only kicks in at full throttle. So if you have "too much" top end, you can lower your EPA to say 90% and the turbo will never kick in (unless you reprogram the ESC to the radio that way). I ran on a big track on Saturday and I tiny one on Sunday with 4wd with the same settings. I just turned the EPA down to 80% on Sunday and the car was super smooth with just enough rip for the small jumps and enough top end to clear the big one. I was able to TQ and win both days, so it works.

It's easier than you think. The 205mod software especially because there are less settings to worry about. DRRS is the setting for initial launch. 1 is super smooth and 9 is very punchy on the bottome end. (a tight slipper clutch on the 22 will make if feel punchier too).
If I recall the 205 mod has a setting at the end that the lower setting is the hottest and fastest. I would run the 8.5 at about 3-4 and geared about 21/76 to 24/76 depending on where you are and how it feels to you.

If you try the 323 stock software it can serve you well with an 8.5 as well but has more adjustments. Good/bad depending on how you look at it. The advantage to using the 323 stock software is that for the 8.5 you can turn the boost and turbo settings down and then if you want to run a 17.5 you can crank them up and have a WICKED fast motor.

Could this explain the shortage of speed passion esc's....maybe I'l just wait till the new stuff comes out instead of buying another lpf whenever they come off BO.

Kyle nice to hear your liking the SP stuff.....really cool to see the amount of you guys switching over from the brand T.
You can run 323 on one and 205 on the other like they were saying

On an 8.5 id run speedo drrs at 6 or 7 and timing maxed...geared in the 24-78 range

I run a 7.5 in a 22 with those speedo settings and geared around 22-78 and motor never gets over 115

Hi I just picked up a Cirtix Stock Club Race 17.5 combo. I'm impressed with the speed of this thing! I have a couple questions- does the ESC have timing or not? The red LED is flashing, but I'm new to 17.5 motors (got it for my daughter) and it seems awful fast for something that is supposed to compare to a 27T brushed.

My other question is what is the default lipo cutoff if any? The instructions are unclear here, there is reference to the other Cirtix ESCs but nothing specific for the Stock Club Race. I am worried about running my batteries below minimum voltage. This is with 2s.

Sorry if this has been posted already but the thread is 47 pages!
