I am looking for some help with my new reventon pro esc. I got everything installed and got the esc connected to the computer then updated the lcd card to 2.7 reconnected to the computer and tried to put the stock firmware in the esc and it failed. tried others and failed also. restarted everything and now the software wont see the esc. I can change the firmware on the lcd card but nothing on the esc. just says please connect the esc. I can chage setting with just the lcd card fine. I don't understand what is going on.

Open Reventon PC interface, Press "S" button (keyboard). The right top corner will show "Safe mode". Connect ESC to LCD card. Pressing the LCD card "Value" button and then connect LCD card to PC. The LCD card will display "CONNECTING PC". Release "Item button". Click "Update firmware" to flash ESC firmware.

Questions?? High Power Capacitor

I am using a Reveton Pro. What is the advantage of running this cap?

Also, does anyone know what the uf/volatge values are of this cap?

Not necessary, just run the cap that came with Pro.

My setup is Stock0 for the blinky and a Novak ULR ballistic with a 12.5 rotor. We race 4 minutes.

At the end of 4 minutes, as I am pulling the car into the pit lane under slow power, the ESC will automatically shut off. This seems to happen every time. I have a motor sponsor so I have been running my motors a bit harder and they get hotter than I would normally like, Ive been around the 170* mark as a high point, 150* as a low. I thought the ESC might be cutting off due to motor temp safety, I disabled it in the ESC program. It still happens.

I want to buy another Reventon Pro for a Mod Sprint class, but before I do, I want to understand this problem and make sure everything is ok. Anyone help me out?

Turned off voltage and heat protection it still shuts down after my race as I'm pulling into the pit lane. It hasn't effected my racing since I can finish the 4 minutes but it still worries me.

Seriously unimpressed with my first Speed Passion ESC. Figured I'd give them a shot on one of my vintage rides. Big mistake. Bought a Reventon S. Wired it up, followed calibration instructions, motor beeped the right way, power down then power back up. Give it throttle, nothing. Brakes, nothing. Reverse settings on TX & recalibrate again, nothing. Find that supplied wire for connection between RX and ESC has bad crimp on signal wire, try new wire & guess what, nothing. Try different motor & nothing. Try different receiver & nothing. Look for any kind of support on their website, you guessed it! Nothing. Throw my Orion in and guess what? We've got life. So I guess it's buyer beware with this stuff. Hopefully my CC company will give me better support in disputing the charge than SP does in supplying documentation on their website.

Send me your S, I'll make it work!

The reality of it is, SP stuff works, and not only works, but wins championships. Sux your first experience wasn't positive, but don't totally write off SP.

Some things I have discovered-
-EPA set to 100 all around
-Servo reverse on Futaba (and some others)
-Sometimes even starting on a clean "Model #" in the radio makes a difference
-The calibration can be key.

I'm ditching all my old novak ESCs and I plan to go all SP once I have the funds. I still run the older GT2 stuff with success. Check this thread for other useful tips. I know my first S gave me a hiccup the first time, but I got thru it and runs like a dream.

I appreciate the input, but once burned..... well you get it.

I've run LRP and Orion recently (Tekin and Novak way back in the brushed days) and have had no issues with getting them set up on the first pass. If you're telling me I need to search through 240+ pages of random posts on this board just to find the "double top secret" info on how to make the most basic settings on this ESC to get it to function then SP has already lost me as a current and future customer.

Default Red light off at times, 2 fans ok?

Reventon Pro: has anyone else had the RED LED go off during operation? All I can find in the documentation is that under normal operation both the ORANGE and RED LED's should be on during operation. The RED LED was not blinking (indicating low battery) but just goes off. I also notice some apparent receiver interefence/randomness when it happens which may or may not be related.

Also, is it OK to wire two fans into the fan power outlet (Reventon Pro)?

Generally this ESC has been easy to setup and update via the USB cable.

Did you update the firmware? The Stock Club comes preloaded with "STO0" firmware which has no reverse. Go here: http://www.speedpassion.net/reventon/home.asp and click "Firmware Support list & Setup Sheets".
