My opinion is that you don't need boost for offroad. If you feel you do, get a lower turn motor.

After racing with my Reventon R in my T4.1 for a few weeks now, have to say I am very impressed with it. Very smooth and hastle free. Was using an LRP SXX V2 before, and this ESC is just about as smooth. Feeling of the brakes is awesome, makes for a very easy to drive truck and does not come on too hard.
The SP software is simple to use, and Speed Passion has a great tutorial on how to download the software and get your vehicle plugged into the programmer and computer.
My only complaints:
-BEC issue (Some come with the good BEC, other's don't, but SP will send you the replacement free of charge)
-Long reciever wire. Thankfully you can put a smaller one on, but out of the box, the stocker is easilly 200+mm long.
-A little tall, even with the fan off, might not fit easilly on the side of a 2wd buggy chassis and clear the body.
Is anyone using any other capacitors? Have another Reventon I want to use but need to find a cap local before Wed. Thanks!

Are you using a SP 7.5 motor? I run a SP 7.5 v3 with 20 degrees of timing and run the Mod2 firmware with 11.5 degrees of esc timing. Geared at 81/20. My B44.2 is as fast as the guys with 5.0 motors.

I'm thinking of buying a 6.5 and see how it feels. Local track just got bigger, so I think a new motor might be the best option.

My s did come pre wires, All leads soldered to esc, and a deans plug on it. Score, Saves me a plug and some solder time.

On the reciver wire, Depends on which ESC. I have the s in my SC10, little long, but long enough can plug in box set program box flat on table, (curl extra reciever wire around a screw driver pull it out) sensor wire long enough, My gt2.0 in ym B44.1 was like the shortest one they offer just barely long enough, But the sensor wire to short. not long enough to adjust ESC in a way wires werent pushing body up.

Had my worst fear confirmed. While updating firmware via wireless, there was a load error and ESC would not stay on for more than a few seconds. Tried a few PC's to get the software restore working but we had issues with the windows USB drivers.
Left it for a local SP doctor to take a look at it. The more I understand how this tech works, the more it frightens me.
I was really excited to setup the wireless module in my car so I could make adjustments from the driver's stand in practice. I pulled into the pit lane and adjusted my ABS and drag brake a slight bit. Apparently, any adjustment requires the ESC to be power cycled. So really, the only thing that wireless provides me at runtime is real-time statistics. ESC temperature, battery voltage.
I understand having to power cycle but I wish there was a way to remotely do that. Maybe power down, wait a few seconds and power up?

Just got my first SP product (Reventon R) and will run for the first time tomorrow. I have a couple of quick questions.
First, for casual 17.5 blinky at the track, any reason to run Stock0? It seems I can just stick with Modified(0 or 1) firmware and turn timing to zero.
With the above in mind, Drift1 and Modified0 allow for the same adjustable parameters. Is there a difference (other than maybe the default parameters)? I guess I could ask the same regarding Mod1 and Stock0 (assuming I turn timing to zero on Mod1).
DRRS. What does this REALLY do? Is it drive frequency? Current limiter? "Punch?" If I have this at the minimum value and stab the throttle, will I get the same result as having it at the maximum value with a gentle, smooth pull of the throttle?
Any insight from the knowledgeable community would be much appreciated.

DRRS - well, i think of it as punch. If you want more rip off the line, turn it up. For 17.5 I would expect all but the true novices would want it cranked to 11. haha jk it only goes to 9.

Got in some motors, trying to decide which to use. the ones I got in are:
13.5 1 cell Speed Passion motor
13.5R MMM SP Motor
17.5R MMM SP Motor
Now, mind you the track I will be using these at runs full mod. But its very tiny. Torque is king so guys run some really hot stuff to punch it over the jumps. Last year I did run a 17.5 as the layout was conducive to doing this and it worked well till it changed to more 180s.
I would like to run say a less hot motor (8.5 V3.0 Comp right now) and play with settings for power. I also have a 12.5 rotor I can drop in too which originally was going to my touring car for 17.5 class
So here is what I am thinking of trying, going with the MMM motor, possibly the 17.5R but put in the 12.5 rotor and maybe the black timing board instead of the Red one?
track is at best I think 50 x 50 or even smaller. carpet offroad with jumps, so I can put the power down. this would be in a 2wd buggy. I am using a GT2.1 Pro Stock ESC, 428 mod software but may change that to the stock one.

for racing you need to be in blinky. running the other firmware with timing turned down is still cheating. (officially anyway).

Only difference I would say is people seem to be anywhere from 5-6 to 9 DRSS based on how smoooth they drive. I just cut it in the middle and run 8 LOL
