Any chance of getting some info. I realize that this is a new product. However someone should have a digital copy of the instructions or at the very lease a description of all the functions.

REALLY glad I ordered this and a couple of Viper motors now. My MMP croaked today at the track after caseing a mild double. Guess I cased the big triple triple a few times too many

We should have all info available on the coming new web site. Meanwhile, if anyone needs electronic format user manual, please e-mail Weylin at [email protected] for any needed info. We apologize for the disable web site. We expect to have the new site up and running in mid May.

More deliveries should be arriving any day now - can't wait to see what customers have to say about the new speed controls...

Let us know what you think, there are a bunch of us on here to help answer any questions.

What motor timing on the Viper motor is equivalent to 0 deg on the Tekin Redline??

none.

15 would be the closest.. but even then i think our motors will still have a few more degrees of timing.

It looks like the Redline default timing is rated at 12*, and adjustable down to 0*. Our default timing is 30* and adjustable +/- 15* either direction.

Is there any particular reason why you guys chose to go so high with the timing on the motor? More motor timing equals less boost to be applied when you want it, or so the many hours I've spent reading in the past couple of days points to. Then my next question(s). I've got a vtx10 on the way and I already have a couple of the viper motors, what is the max boost you suggest on these? What is the max boost you will be able to run on a different brand motor?

So, does the VTX10R come with recommendations for setups? I know the ProGauge can do all kinds of groovy stuff...

I'll be dropping it into a XXX-SCT with either a 17T or 13T Viper (I bought both  ). The track is SDRC Raceway in San Diego, a brand new indoor clay track with a 130ft straight and a pretty gnarly triple triple ;) I've got video here:

Thx for any help. Very much looking forward to trying these out!

Any setup info when running the vtxr with a 4.5 550 motor?

Preset profiles #1,2, or 5 will be great starting setups for a 4x4 SCT with the VTX10R/550 motor.

And until it comes out I plan on running it with a novak ballistic 4.5 550. And my other question is, will I run into any issues running the Novak with the vtx10r. The reason I ask is I run a Tekin rs in my rc10b4 and I always have cogging with the ballistic 540's with it.

The VST XL motors are coming and should be available in May. The factory is working very hard to keep up with the demand for these new products :) It's difficult to release so many new products at once especially with the quickly growing popularity of the VTX esc's!

I will be able to attach the instructions in a post shortly, just need to receive the manual in a different format. Right you you can email me directly at [email protected] and I can email you a PDF copy.

our motors are rated at a different kv.
a little lower then expected allowing us to (if we want)
gear the same fdr but apply more boost then other motors.

Now Typical for vipers motors (to me anyways)
i gear up a total of 3teeth on the pinion

i went from a phantom ion 1 13.5 to a viper 13.5

gearing for the ion was 26-75 in a b4
gearing for the viper i steped up to 30-75 and didnt change a thing on the esc.

My 8.5 boosted mod class motor is another thing though

its geared 25/78 30* motor timing
12* of accel boost
4000rpm start
20500rpm end

20* of Max advanced timing.

This setup kept up with a 6.5!

Timing dose play a role on boost.. but depending on what class' you run boost wont be needed much and the boost on the vtx is very aggressive and the warning the pro gauge gives you is right on the money!

All 1/10 brushless racing motors have a significant amount of default timing. Nearly all of them are 24-30* default. Some companies will label the default timing as zero, likely to signify the default start point, other companies, such as the Viper VST motors label it to reflect the actual timing. I'm unsure if the Redline's default timing marks are an actual total timing measurement or a slightly altered number, as it looks like their default timing is 12*.
The VST motor timing is fully adjustable from 15*-45*. When dialing in a boosted setup there are many many tuning options that need to be considered - motor timing, esc timing advance, rpm ranges, gearing, etc.
The VTX boost function creates massive rpm, so gearing down is definitely in order to drop the loading on the motor and allow it to wind out more. Start with profile 3 for 13.5 boosted or profile 4 for 17.5 boosted. We recommend to keep the total timing at or less than 60*. Total timing means motor timing plus esc timing. In the VTX boost function there is an acceleration boost adjustment and top speed timing adjustment. Those timing adjustments are relatively independent of each other, so don't combine them when calculating max timing. For example if you have 30* on the motor, then run 30* max adv acceleration boost, and 30* max adv top speed timing. Hope this helps! Thanks for trying our products!

I got tax refund burning a hole in my pocket! How about the 1/8 sensored motors?
