Big thanks to Viper this weekend, I ran 4 classes at Motorama all powered with my VIPER motors and they ran strong all weekend with plenty of good smooth power. Big thanks to Nick Malato as well for being there lend a hand. Hopefully see some of you guys at the Regionals and SCT shootout next month.

with a viper 1/10 ESC and motor, what are you guys liking for mod SCT class for motor?

I am thinking if I keep my 2wd SCT, I am thinking of going with a 10.5 with a boosting ESC as that seemed to be a good combo out here (non-boosted 8.5 worked well), though, hearing how hard the Viper motors pull, I wonder if a 13.5 would be good?

Dlewis4 02-23-2011 11:32 AM

The 13.5 I ran in my 4wd last weekend had people thinking I was running a 6.5

These things are fast.

Cain 02-23-2011 11:35 AM

the 13.5 I ran last year was a Novak Ballistic, and I liked the motor, but it did run hotter than I liked as I felt it was trying hard to push the vehicle around the track. I think its more RPMish than my previous Speed Passion V3.0 was. So after hearing about the torque the Vipers have, thinking of one.

Definitely won't be dissappointed

Would you guys think a 7.5 with 12.8mm rotor would push a SC10 4x4 around nicely?

Combined with Vtrax10 or would 10R be needed?

it might be alright, it will lack in acceleration where the 550 can guys will get you everytime, But it would be a good starting point for sure.

Use the 10r for sure.

I just ran an 8.5 in my mod Blitz with a good set up and a gear diff on a super high bite track. the power was nice and smooth and I put it to the ground with no problem. I ran it with a stock rotor and played a little with timing, I felt the stock timing setting (30) worked the the best and kept the motor running at a good temp.

so was i!

13.5 2wd has never been so smooth

with my last trinity motor i had to boost it pretty hard to match the speed of the tekin/murfdog motors... i actually backed the boost out 5% on my Rs because it was just to much down the straight and i would had to use to much break going into the sweeper causing the car to dip and the rear end getting loose.

Anyways Viper Motors Are on top Right now!

Finished 2nd in 2wd mod last at RCHR in CT with a 13.5! Had a bunch of people interested in the motor and esc. They couldn't believe how cool the motor and esc were after an 8 main.

Cain- I have seen several races were a driver using a 'properly boosted' 10.5 was able to keep up with people running 8.5 and even 7.5. You have to gear it right and set the boost right (maximum is not always fastest!) and most important- drive it right.
