help!
Running RS Pro and a new 17.5 in my SC10 and it is getting hot! Gearing has been changed, speedo set all the way down to blinky-mode (going through whole battery in 6 minute qual), then changed to settings another is running (boost, no timing and some turbo) and same result, but better battery life.
Ideas? Thanks in advance! |

sparkwraps - couple of things to check - drivetrain is free; gear ratio (too high will cause a lot of heat), timing on motor (same as before); diff or slipper set correctly; motor spinning freely (no debris or bearing issues).
I was helping a team driver last night a 17.5 in his Blitz and it barely reached 100*. Only time I have seen the motors get hot is when they were over or under geared. |

I currently have a Tekin RS with the Ballistic 17.5. Best I can do is 160*. Current setup: 83 Spur/29T Pinion, 5* motor timing, 25* Timing Boost, No Turbo. I have tried different gearing and timing. Yet I am not happy with the performance. Maybe I am missing something. Nevertheless, I am just a click away on purchasing the Viper VST 17.5. Heard lots of great feedback with it. Runs cool and fast. Really want to test it out and see how much better it is. Would you be able to post the best setup for the Tekin RS on a Blitz using the VST 17.5 - Similar to your Teammate's setup? It will be used on a small/medium sized outdoor hard packed dirt track. Looking for Spur/Pinion/Motor Timing/Boost/Turbo (if used), etc? Thanks :) |
Yeah - 26t pinion, 81t spur. 25t pinion made no difference. Everything is free and set right.
Derek Lewis is helping me out here, but the last change we retarded timing 5 degrees and it seems better, as in I can hold my finger on the motor after 6 minutes, but I am getting walked down the straight-away. will see how qualifying goes this morning. |

Im just gonna throw out what i was running for gearing at motorama,, both vehicles running 17.5 no boost or speedo timming,, T4 truck, 30/75, motor was warm after 7 minute Bmain and was on the edge of being hot after 10 minute Amain,, for buggy i was on 32/72 in an X2 buggy with the same results,, able to run with anyone on the straights and still have enough power to clear all the double jumps.

I just ordered a 8.5 and was wondering what gears would be a good base to start with. Im running a SC10. It's an indoor kinda small 1/10 scale track, kinda tight corners, and medium to high traction. Thanks in advance :batman:
