"Prior art", as the term goes (IIRC :P ), can be a b!tch :\

Definitely looking forward to these ESC's though. Already contemplating a motor ;)

Very true!

The esc was supposed to be released some time this month. So how many more weeks will this delay the release?

I know they are frustrated and want to get it to market, but that really would have been a basic issue to catch for any attorney reviewing the release of a new product.

I'm glad to see a new RC company. Love to see different companies compete with the "established" ones in the market. Especially ones with cool names and designs.

Good luck Weylin and lets get this to market......:)

I can tell you for certain.

Weylin and the rest of Viper R/C want to get these into your hands just as bad as you want to get them.

A couple years from now when Viper has replaced the big dogs atop of the hill, this will all be a distant memory.

I will be testing my ESC next weekend. :sneaky:

Like Weylin said on the other page, its easier to take this approach than go through a legal battle with a larger established company. I sure they have their reasons wanting to take this action.

Like Weylin said, the extra time has given us more time to plan and think - ultimately, I think we have come up with some better ideas, that the general public and racing public are really going to like.

We do have a business attorney who handles any legal issues/concerns Viper R/C encounters. The Vtrax name was not registered by any company in the US, we checked the entire system. The Vtrax name was simply claimed to be too similar to another big name brand, they were afraid of encountering confusion. At this stage where we still have the ability to make changes it was our decision not to dispute the claim, not a lack of ability or resources. As a young company it's more important for us to develop creative and innovative solutions to problems rather than battling legal situations such as this, even if we aren't in the wrong. We are proud and confident in the original design of all current and future products. Our resources are much better used to improve our product and formulate a smooth speed control release to our quickly expanding customer base.

+1 I am a Business Major and I completely agree with this approach and I also can tell you without a doubt that Weylin and the rest of Viper-RC solutions is doing every thing they can to get these products in the hands of the public as soon as possible not to mention making sure it is as close to a perfect product as they can get!! Don't worry the wait will be well worth it as i have been testing these products and have found them to be far superior to the other brands currently available!!

Do you have a 1/8th ESC and motor setup out now ? I am in Everett and would like to know where to buy this set up being so close to home.

It's not ready yet. We are still testing it.

jag5508 03-08-2011 05:15 PM

So when are these going to be available ?

Viper is rushing it, but there's no set date yet as we are still testing the 1/8 motors to make sure it's as good or even better than the 1/10 viper motors.

As for now the first priority is to get a new name n get the 1/10 esc combo out first:)

Manshoon 03-08-2011 06:07 PM

Well if you need a new test dummy to support the cause, I live in Everett and can bring said buggy to you for fitment and testing purposes. I would love to be a part of history in the making.

nikos2002 03-08-2011 10:21 PM

There is some basic 1/8 testing starting this week. Good part is we already have the 1/10 platform to work from, so development should be bit quicker than 1/10, plus all the extra stuff (packaging, etc) will already be done - once the new name is picked. :sneaky:

Fingers crossed - my 1/8e will be here next week, so I can try some stuff soon. We'll keep everyone in the loop.

I'm with you Nick, my Hyper 9e has a vacancy in the motor mount waiting on some test goodies ;)
If they're anything like the 1/10th motors then it will be just a matter of time before we become the motor of choice across the boards! You heading to Rchr for the anniversary race this weekend?

nikos2002 03-09-2011 06:07 AM

Yeah Joe, I will be at RCHR this weekend, might come by Friday to save a pit space!!
