Cain- I have seen several races were a driver using a 'properly boosted' 10.5 was able to keep up with people running 8.5 and even 7.5. You have to gear it right and set the boost right (maximum is not always fastest!) and most important- drive it right.

Yep. If track is with lack of traction higher turn motors with boost helps a lot. My son won two races with properly geared and boosted 13.5T motor in 1/10 4wd buggy against 7.5T, 8.5T motors.

i just wonder if i buy a factory team b4.1 buggy . what speed control and motor should i buy it ? how much cost for speed control with motor combo ?

thank

Depends on the class you are wanting to run it in. Mod or stock?

And not sure on combo pricing yet... it hasnt been released.

vtrax10, motor 8.5, Price dont know. I read on this fourm they want to be in ballpark of tekin. With viper you get the tunner free with purchase of a esc.Better than buying a tekin and spending a extra 50+ for hotwire + a laptop.

Page 2? Someone is slacking! Haha!

Got a lot of people asking for the new VTrax speedos..... any idea on a solid release date?

For me at least I have been comparing what is stated to be included with the ESC package to what speed passion offers as they also include a programmer that doesn't need a laptop, and I believe also can update the firmware of the ESC. I loved using the speed passion stuff for that reason versus the Tekin where I needed a laptop.

I am leaning towards the Viper stuff due to the better warranty.

Most of the features can be accessed on the Tekin itself. No biggy there. The Castle you can use the Tx to reconfigure the esc or the program card. So no biggy there as well.

I would like to see how refined the software is on the 1/8 Viper ESC. I want to see good startups with overgeared buggy's in sensoreless mode. I want to see good brakes from high speeds with overgeared setups. Are there additional cap banks available for example. Can the 2650kv motor handle drifting on 4s without blowing it's rotor?

WOW? I think I have my testing checklist when the hardware is ready.

Cain 02-25-2011 08:34 AM

I would like to see it tested with the ESC mounted directly to the vehicles chassis with mimimal servo tape (ie- no cushioning) to test survivability of the electronic components as well as the case itself. Also would like the case to not use any form of plastic tabs to hold it together. And no fan reliance for use would be great.

Electronics in general do not like vibrations/shock of any kind. I cushion all my esc's for this reason. If I would stick the Viper esc to the metal chassis, I would use 1 or 2 layers of thermal conductive foam tape. You get the benefit of one giant heatsink that way and still reduce those micro vibrations.

I've done it with the Quark 80B and 125B. I've even done it with the Tekin RSpro with good results.

I agree, but I figure if to test the durability of the components, go with the worst case scenario and work from there. Sort of like having the best drivers in the world test your vehicle for durability may not be the best idea since they proably crash the least. The common joe always seems to be able to find durability issues LOL.

Totally agree.

It depends on the size of the track you will run on, the traction on the track, and the class you will run. In a 2wd buggy on a small to midsize track alot of racers are using 13.5 motors, with timing advanced. If the track is a little larger I would go with a 10.5 motor. Dont forget that with the tunability of these speed controls, either setup can be crazy fast. Try a vtrax10 with either one of those motors.

Where do you get that tape??? THAT looks cool and would probably extend electronics life no matter which brand you run???
