Good to know. We have a stock wheeler class around here with 13.5 blinky. I might just run 13.5 boosted on club nights. Smallish indoor track.

Congratulations to Lee Martin -- not one but two runner up finishes at the European Championships. A few sections different in either direction and Lee could have won both classes, as well. So close yet so far.

Nico - check out NeoBuggys Under the Hood of Lee's 4wd -- I think you have him beat with cleaner wiring!!!

He typically runs Profile 2, adjusts the brakes to him liking. Turns Punch up to 100 and controls wheel spin with his throttle application. For us mortals out there - start with the Punch at 80 and see if you need more or less due to conditions.

What set up would you recommend in a B44.3 4wd buggy (esc-motor) My birthday is coming up might get me something SPecial:nod:

I ran a VTX10R 6.5 turn in my Durango 4x4 buggy and it worked like a charm. Too bad I sucked SO bad at driving the thing.

VTX10R or VTX10R Black Edition -- VST 6.5 motor (7.5 if you want a little more control). All good choices....:tire::tire::tire::tire:

I recently bought a VTX-10r and love it! I want to switch my motors to Viper too. Can you give me a little info on them? What I am looking for is I am coming from Novak motors. I have never ran anything else. I run 2wd sct and I will switch sometimes from a 7.5 and a 8.5 and then dial it in from the radio. I run medium to large indoor and outdoor tracks. I was looking at the 6.5. I know KV doesn't mean anything but the 7.5 is like 4400 kv 392watts and the 6.5 is 6100kv at 441 watts. The motor I am coming from is 5800kv 340watts. Should I be ok with the 7.5 VST motor or should I get the 6.5? thanks

I don't know if this will help answers your question as well as Nikko's will, but I find my 8.5t seems to be a half turn slower than the competition running equal gearing in the same buggy. This difference is made up for by really cool running temperature allowing you to crank the gearing as required. <-- I haven't really cranked it, it's still ice cold just a couple teeth more than usual.

You will be able to gear a Viper 8.5 up alittle higher than another brand and run cooler. But rule of thumb if your running an 8.5 other brand run a 7.5 in the Viper. My Viper motors run super cold... Ive been gearing them up with great success!!!

Are any of you pushing the endbell past 45? I know mine seems like it will go a bit further but is it advisable? I run stock buggy. I might just leave it, it runs really good with 45 endbell and 30/69 gearing.

When looking at the specs I was thinking they probably had more torque. Most motors that I have been researching that have lower k's will have more bottom end. Just not sure if I should get the 6.5t or not. The watts and kv's jump.

First, don't go by the kv ratings that are published for motors. There is no industry standard. Some are theoretical, some are measured on some type of checker machine, what voltage is used -- just very difficult.

As stated, our motors are more torque than RPM based, we did this (many, many years ago) to have a safer motor when we first started in the industry. Then as we went to design new motors.... well most everyone knows the history of motors in the last 2 years. So yes, a little more gearing or a turn lower than what you used to run, will put you in the ball park.

chevmaro - yes, the timing can go past 45, but you have to be careful, it will add heat, might need to change gearing accordingly(slight raise in Throttle freq as well). It will give slightly more RPM, but sacrifice power.
