Sorry, I didn't get the last one: why less punch when running stock?

More punch in stock raises temps.

My Caster Racing Rapture SCT with my new VTX8 ran perfect all weekend long and got me a 7th place finish at the 2013 Silver Dollar Off-Road Challenge

Default VX4r.45 Heat issue

I've been reading through quite a few of the posts in this thread and have learned quite a bit. Thanks for all the help. I have a question regarding my Copperhead/VX4r system. I'm running a VX4r.45 with the Copperhead R esc in my Slash 4x4 geared at 13/54 and can't seem to keep the temps down. I'm running profile 3 because I don't yet have a Progauge. I run on an indoor clay track and the gearing seems to be a good balance for the big jumps and tight turns. Temps jump up to 160 after about 5 minutes of running during practice. They don't seem to get much higher than that, but I'm not running very hard and am concerned about running it much harder in a race. There is no binding and the gear mesh is good. ESC temps never get over 100. Anybody have any suggestions as to how to help this? Obviously I can change gearing, but I feel like 13/54 is already fairly conservative and a good setup for my track. Any suggestions?

I got the chance to run the viper 17.5 paired w/ the vtx10r yesterday. I ran it for over an hour. After the first pack it became clear the motor can push a much taller pinion than I had been running w/ my tekin 17.5 b/c the motor came off at 90 degrees after running for over 25 minutes.

I was very impressed w/ the low end torque and the speed the 17.5 could put down. I'm very happy with the motor and might consider the 13.5 for my SC but the local tracks can't seem to commit to running 13.5 motors.

You can use profile 1 but make sure you change the motor pole setting to 2 pole (I believe that is a 2 pole motor- might want to check with Tekin) and adjust battery cut off because of the 3s.

twisted- yes they are loud on start up compared to a sensored motor. But if it's loud and not accelerating that could be an issue. If you want you can send it to us for evaluation. Just fill out an RMA form on our website.

mulepic- glad you like it!!!

They are 4 pole motors.
