Currently using a Futaba . I was previously using a Savox .
Mine has the silver 270uF. Although Nick (nikos) says it's likely the BEC going bad that is causing the issue. I'm going to send it in for them to have a look at. I really like the Viper esc and motor, so I hope they can fix it so it's reliable.
Thanks! Impressive customer service; I certainly wasn't expecting a response on the weekend!

What size is the track. I run 75/28 on small indoor and go up. Outside I was running 75/30. My team c evo is 2.61 also. assuming you are running blinky mode. check temps in 3 min intervals. I think aroun 6.5 fdr is pretty fast. raise it for more torque.

Yes it is 1yr and turnaround on Warranty is Awesome...

Correct - 1 yr warranty as long as you have the proof of purchase still (must be bought new from a Viper dealer, Amain, etc.....) and was a failure not due to operator error (over-geared, over-timed, physically damaged, etc......)

As far using the timing, I put a post in a long time ago that is kind of a good way to approach using the timing features on the ESC, and how to get started with gearing. Spec motor racing is MORE work, MORE technical, and is MORE dependent on the settings. People who do well in spec motor racing usually do so because they have spent allot of time testing.

6.5 fdr is pretty Slow versus guys geared at 69/37 4.84 fdr and 69/39 4.60 fdr in Blinky Mode...

That seams crazy to me. I just ran 3 weeks in a row on an outdoor track similiar to the size your describing geared 75/30. My buggy came off at the end of 5 min quals and 6 min mains right about 145deg. I was on pace with everyone else. A few of the other brand motors have more rpm naturally but my car was right with them. 6.52 fdr. I noticed in stock truck my motor felt even better due to the fact the Viper motors have more torque. My truck was very good geared 80/26. 8.03 fdr.

most motors, no matter which brand, will fall into that 33-36 pinion / 69-72 spur range in blinky. Usually the Losi is a bit lower gear ratio because of it's taller internal gear ratio (2.4 vs 2.6). With 2.6 trans I ran 36/72. What you have to remember is that in order to go fast in blinky 17.5, you will heat your motor up. That's why you see people saying it over and over, adjust your gearing according to your temps!
If you were at 145 and were running 30/75, chances are you were over reving the motor and that is what was generating your heat.
Try changing to 34/72 and see how that is. run a few min and adjust accordingly. It may be spot on cause of your track being on the small side.

when I run 75/28 indoor it comes off at 109deg. So I figured my gearing up to 30 was close. Also my team c slipper plates already have to be machined down to accept the 75 spur. but I will try your suggestion none the less. do you back the can timing down when you go to such a large pinion? mine is cranked to 45 in blinky.
