Is that the rotor I would use? I didn't know about this option.

Level 2 would be were I would start and adjust to what you like.

Awesome...I'm going to see how the VST's do with the high rpm motor. I bet it will make it a whole different animal!

Start with safe gearing though. RPM should be approximately 10% higher with the 12.0 rotor.

Nikos - I just received my VXT10-BE and can't wait to instal it. Is there any reason I shouldn't shorten the leads from the caps to the ESC? My EE at work says shorter is better electronically but I wanted to check with you before shortening them to see if Viper has a particular stance on the matter (I know one specific company that suggests that length is "tuned" on their ESCs).

We don't recommend that you shorten it. 1) why make extra work for yourself. 2) your not going to gain anything from it. 3) the engineers have not told me, but there must be areas on its that long. If not they would have made it shorter, or longer.

Yes but 1) I like doing this stuff. Too much crap hanging off I like the PCB mounted ones on my VXT10R...but I understand the much greater capacity of the new ones. 2) Neater 3) See this is what gets me...I want to know why it's that long. My thoughts are to get it away from the ESC for more airflow and so that the ESC is smaller.

I'm putting this in a B4.1 and like neat wiring...the long cap leads are bugging me so I was going to cup them quite short...but if you say not to then I won't.

Ok the new BE ESC is installed in my B4.1...I didn't shorten the cap leads, I suppose they will be fine how they are. Keeping in mind that I have a VXT10R and have calibrated it a few times, why can't I get my VXT10BE to go into calibration?

It turns on just fine but if I hold for the three seconds that the manual states it goes into program mode. If I hold it longer it shuts down. That said, it seems to be calibrated...but I want to be sure it's right.

I have it coupled with a VST8.5t and I can tell just from driving it around in my basement barely touching the throttle I can tell this thing is going to be wicked fast. Can't wait to drive it this weekend.

I am in the market for a new ESC and want to go Viper because my Son really likes them. Should I get the VTX1 or the VTX10 or one of the black ediitons? The are all around the same price so I just want to hear your reccomendations on the best long term option with lots of adjustability. Doesn't have to be "This one is the best." I will settle for; "I like this one because..."

Thanks in advance!

The VTX1 is really aimed at the on-road market because it has a feature that allows you to run a 1s battery but yet still run the radio system in your car without needing a booster or receiver battery to get the voltage higher than the 1s battery can make to run the receiver. It is still 2s functional, but unless you need the 1s function, there is no real advantage to it.

As far as how the "red" esc differs from that of the "black", esc, the majority of the functions are the same, but the BE comes with a larger capacitor, a heavier duty BEC, and the A55 firmware that is V-Link ready. (V-Link is a PC based programming system vs the ProGage - you will need the Pc-Link kit to use V-Link).

which esc motor combo would you guys suggest for a losi scte? I want a rx8 pro 4 combo but cant really swing spending that much cash right now. I see viper has cheaper combos but I know nothing about them. I will be racing the truck. My first priority is I need a esc and motor that is reliable. Second I dont want a slow motor but dont need the fastest either. I seen amain has some of the copperhead combos for like 150. But some reviews are not the best on them. But the price looks good. Suggestions?

From my experience, the Copperhead 4500 combo will put you where you want to be in the SCTE. That's the truck that I run, and that's the system I'm running. I can run with all the Pro4/RX8 combos all day, and mine is 30degrees cooler than theres. If you get that combo, go ahead and get the proguage at the same time. You won't go wrong with it.
