The Ryan Cavalieri Invitational - i.e. ROAR Nats continues this week out at West Coast RC.
Congrats to Travis Amezcua for a 6th place finish in Stadium Truck. He was also in the top 20 in other classes - 16th in 4wd and 12th in 2wd.
Andrew Smolnik finished 33rd in 2wd, and 18th in Stadium Truck.
Good start to the week in tough track conditions (and heat!!). All the reports are the equipment was running great.
Looking forward to 4wd SC - Travis has done really well the last two big events, but that was outdoors, indoors is a different world - plus with the heat out there it will be interesting to see how the electronics hold up --- for everyone because outside others were having issues.

Im looking for some esc help. I have the copperhead 5150 combo, and have been using it in my Losi scte without any problems at all. Well, I recetly switched to a Team C TS4, which weighs 2lbs less lol. Since putting it in the TS4, the esc has ben thermoling on me even though the truck weighs much less. My settings are Punch control 2/Start power 2/ Timing 1, the other settings are probably inconsiquential. I am geared 12/54. Any suggestions as to what to do?
Thanks, Jason
Thanks, Jason

Jason, who does the gearing you are using compare to what you used on the Losi? How about how free the drive train is compared to what you had before? Plus make sure all the plugs and connections are ok.

Yes, the specs are similar - the BE is only designed for 2s while the original VTX can handle limited 3s applications. yes the size is slightly smaller since the cap board is not on top of the BE, gives us a little less hight.
Outwardly the cases have not changed much, its internally where the circuit board is that has changed. That re-design (a little different way to build a mouse a trap) was based on the making sure the BEC was strong, one area that can be weak in any speed control these days. In our best efforts to make the circuit stronger we moved needed bigger caps, hence the move off the board. BTW you can get a larger capacitor cap for the original VTX, which will help improve its BEC (all new ones come with it).
So they don't look different but under the hood there are some differences between 2011 and 2012 units. The body style is similar the inner workings have been updated.
So we released a 2nd version of the unit (just as others have), we aren't making you take yours apart and update it your self, just came out with an update. Customers have the option to purchase which ever they like. If you were running a 550 motor or a touring car - I would go with a BE, running stock buggy or SC = either would work, your choice. Like the look of having all the capacitors in one place - get the VTX. Options, Options, Options. All designed to help you go faster, smoother at a good price.

now, are the BE caps only for 2s lipo use, or can they be used for 3s applications as well. I run 2s lipo currently, and i don't plan on using 3s lipos, but you never know.

Have you noticed that you are spinning the wheels a lot more now? If you left your settings the same as what you had in your Losi, you will probably be spinning a lot more. Losing 2 lbs and having the same power output will make it run hotter. Just something to look at.

I just bought and installed a VTX10 combo 9.5t in my losi xxx-sct, a55 firmware, larger capacitor, very happy with this system so far!ProGauge Sick!! Very smooth power & brakes...I have been trying to play around with different settings to dial my sct in! The Viper website has not posted setup sheets yet, and I would like to hear what others are running(successfully or not)in they're SCT"s...
I'm on Profile #2 15deg End bell timing, 2500pwmb brakes 10%drag 16000pwm throttle 60%-70% punch
86t 19t gearing, running well but lap times aren't quite there yet??
Also I have played with esc boost profiles so any input is much appreciated!

hyper - is that the buggy or SC? nice install.
Tad - I ran a tooth higher and only 9600 throttle freq last time I ran mod SC. We have been collecting set up from team drivers, they should be posted in the near future.
Andrew - yea that date is probably the production date. Just go straight to a55, go right to the best!! The BE edition is only 2s and the cap board is different for the regular VST.
itr - check your PM
ufo - Thanks for the kind words, Travis is great guy, some people are little intimidated to approach him, but he is great ambassador for our products and our sport - thanks again!!
symmetricon - I apologize, I don't know the trans ratio those trucks. Maybe go down to a 10 and start from from there - check temps every 2 minutes the first run to verify temps. maybe as on the Team C forum where guys are gearing that truck, I haven't run one - only helped with the initial design.
Hope I got everyone, its been a busy day..... Thanks for the support and in the interest in our products!!
