I'm not sure what is available on the profiles for the Copperhead systems. I have a VTX10 and I have a menu called Protection that has the LBC, ESC temp and motor temp all there for adjustment. I think they default to 220 and I in my infinite wisdom thought I should adjust it. Cost me a finish in a 7 minute main. I'm a bonehead.

I'm just a driver for Viper but as I understand the VTX8 is looking and testing out great and I think they are hoping to release it soon. Maybe a month or 2 but I'm not sure. I really like mine and I had a RX8 before the Viper
Here a video of it. Sorry for the bad driving, I was having a off day

Will the vtx8 be both sensored and sensorless capable?

Just had my first race day with the Viper Copperhead ESC, and the VX4R motor. Plenty of power. That noise kinda makes you think something is wrong but it kept pulling all day long and came off the track at 120 degrees.

Just had a 2nd VTX10 stop working. Pretty much exactly the same conditions as the 1st one.

1) Plugged it into the Vlink, fiddled with some settings
2) clicked "update esc"
3) unplugged the vlink
4) esc rebooted
5) pressed the button once and connected the progauge
6) switched to the profile I just changed
7) shut it down
8) bolted on some wheels and an RX
9) turned it back on, nothing. dead.

I guess that's another one to send back...

dtr- we have had some drivers here use the VTX8 in long electric A Mains with no issues. Yes, dust and dirt are always a concern, but the connections should be able to handle it under "normal" circumstances.

silvalis- did you re-bind the esc to the radio? After the update, and the setting changes, nothing? If its the same thing that happen before - were their any common items used (battery, receiver)? Even wires (if bad plug or connector). Worked with the VLink for several weeks before it was released and never found that type of problem.

You can't change the temp settings on the Copperhead, you really control it by how much punch and motor timing you add. start little low and adjust from there.

At the SC Nats we ran Profile 5 straight, that was a 1/8 style track, if yours is smaller, lower timing and punch will help.

BTW, I actually bought a small portable hard drive case at Staples, and I carry my Progauge and temp gun in it (I use the little Duratrax temp gun).

To answer the question about he sensored 4 pole motor. Its been thought about, but we are waiting to see what the rules end up being about their use. Plus, we just finished Black Edition speed controls. Still working on 1/8 speed controls and motors. As well as Black Edition 540 motors. Always something to do.......

So I was able to run my VTX10R/17.5 vst at the track. Last week I was having major esc rebooting issues. I adjusted my endpoints again for my savox, and had brought a spare servo and glitch busters/etc to try to figure it out. Ended up not trying any of that.

Ran Two Packs through it on the track and about 70 minutes worth of runtime. ( Woa! this thing runs forever. ) I did have to run in about 10min bursts or my heat started getting up there.

Only had the ESC reboot on me once in that whole time so I guess its all good. ( It rebooted after a massive crash )

Its crazy how long the battery lasts I could probably run all the qualifiers and mains on one pack. With the stock blitz brushed setup the same pack lasted maybe 15min if that. ( SPC 5400 2s 50c ). With the viper setup I was probably getting 30-40 minutes on a pack.
