Blinky is blinky. You can adjust the "feel" on the vtx, smoother, punchier, etc. I also like the 7v bec then seems to be fairly sturdy. Most people like "feel" better between esc A and esc B. if you like the feel of the esc with the Reedy and the power, then...there you go. Blinky is more on the motor than the esc, not to say the esc has no effect. I personally like 95% of the vtx10. Great feel, great BEC, sturdy construction, solder posts, very tunable, nice pro gauge and etc. I just dont like snakes..... Now if they just made a Bunny BTX10.........

just to share my experience. i had a bad start with the vtx8 esc having similar symptoms.
are you controlling the esc with a FM radio?
this was my problem.
initial set up was futaba 3pks fm radio - vtx8 - lrp dinamic8 - nanotech lipo
now it works fine with a kopropo ex1 2.4 radio set
hope this can help

I used the same 17.5 motor w/ the HW 120A and the vtx10 and the viper was noticeable slower down the straight.

These two cars are the slowest in the feild i am geared correctly 75/29 at 150* in the sc10 and 69/35 at 145* in the b4.1. Are there any esc changes I need to make and still stay in blinky that will make it faster? Btw I put a reedy sonic 17.5 in place of the viper vst17.5 and it hauled the mail. End bell timing on both vipers at 45* thanks
I just raced at Motorama in two different 17.5 classes. I qualified 4th with my SC10 and finished 6th because of a early race take out. I qualified 2nd and finished the same with my SC10b. I was geared 27/72 with my SC10 and 28/72 with my SC10b. Temps after a hard 5 minute race were 150*. Both motors were run at 45* end bell timing. Your gearing in your SC10 looks close to mine. What is your throttle PWM frequency set at? Is your throttle punch set at 100%? Make sure your forward power is set at 100%. I ran my PWM at 8000. This gives it more punch and can really be seen in the infield and helps with jumps with a short run up.

VTX8, 2150 kv Tenshock x812 motor, running on 4S.

At low speeds, everything is fine, I'd say up to half throttle. Then when I try to pull more trigger, the motor starts to bog. At first I thought it was a diff issue, some kind of drag on the system, but them i took the motor out to spin the drivetrain by hand and it was fine, so I powered it up with the motor away from the spur and it happens even then. you can hear/feel the motor knock.

Wanted to put a nice little bow on this.

I had bad solder connections on one of the motor wires. Redid all 3 with 6mm bullets and all is good. Definitely a potent car now. Can't wwait to get it on the track.

mulepic - settings and gearing will make a difference with both our motors and speed controls. Running the same gearing with our VST motor that you ran with a Reedy Motor will not work accurately. Our motors are torque base, Reedy (LRP, Trinity, and some others) are RPM based. So simple answer is you need more gear to get the same output from the motor.

ESC is similar as well. The settings provided in our profiles are "generic" for an application, as described. But, there are variable that need to be adjusted for, so it takes a little practice and experimentation to get it to "feel" the way you want.

PM me your email address, I will gladly pass on the set ups we are currently using.

Huge shout out to the Viper Drivers and Customers we attended the 2013 Motorama Championships. It was a great weekend for the Viper family - 9 different A Mains had Viper equipment (on both 1/10 and 1/8 tracks). Everything from the new VTX8 to our economy Copperhead system was used effectively by racers at the event.

17.5 classes and Modified classes were well represented. And we even had some customers using the equipment during the weekend

Just wanted to thank Nick and the Viper crew for their help at Motorama. It's awesome to have such great support at events and with a company willing to help with any issues ( like a Tekin motor taken a dump ) that might come up. Thanks again I look forward to you new line of 1/8 motors that are coming down the pike.

Just wanted to say thank you to Nick for the help he gave me @ Motorama!!! Got my VTX8 and 4.5 soldered into my 4WD SC!!! Plus gave me some VTX8 set up tips!!!

P.S. Nick 3 of those solder points came of in the main!!! Lol!!! Hopefully the ESC and Motor are all right. I have a friend gonna be re-soldering them this week. I can solder, but I don't feel comfortable doing it myself on the big jobs.

Also P.S. Anthony let me look @ the setup in the Ten-SCTE 2.0. The pre-wired VTX8 wires and sensor wire are still to short for it. Gonna have to figure something out for that. It is the #1 Sold 4WD SC truck. ESC is up front and Motor is back father even than in my MIP Chassis.

Sorry I know this has been asked but I searched and didnt find exactly what I was looking for.

I had one of the first VTX10's Orange with silver caps. I sold my SC10 with the viper in it and have went back to running the Tekin stuff I had. I am going to get another and it will be going into a B4.2. Is the VTX10 BE needed? Will I notice any gain with a 17.5 Boosted setup? Combo's are 199 at Amain that is a killer deal. If I get the BE it will run me about 245.

I'm hoping to get my ESC/motor combo Worky before the races this weekend or I might have no choice ..... I have to push my Tekno V4 SC8.2e and then everything works flawlessly. As long as the truck doesn't come to a 2second stop, truck is awesome!. If I stop, have to give it a rolling nudge to get going... I'm running Tekin T8 2650Kv and the Viper VTX8 ALL brand new if this helps. Checked tuning parameters and adjusted accordingly via vipers suggestions so far, same.
