ridgerunner - looked at your motor today - you spun the rotor, it was fighting though, didn't want to let go. It will probably ship out tomorrow, you should see it by Friday.
Keep your eyes open for news about VF motors........
..........
Pretty sure there will be some team drivers at the race - but we wont be there for factory support or selling.

Nikos, The Hobby shop in Dayton just sent my copperhead 5150 system back for the second time. I really like the system but it will hurt to not have it for our big double points charity race this weekend!

Dang!! tried the velcro esc mounting method with no success. Although, I have noticed that it is a small side swiping motion that does it in...probably 95% of the time. I've been launching this thing off a wooden ramp about a foot tall.
about ten feet long or so with absolutely no problems at all. I came around a curve and bumped a tire on it's side and it was out for a minute or so.
The motor was around 140ish and the esc was at 120 degrees.
How bout' it Nikos....just do a trade in? Can I trade in for any esc with a copperhead and paying the price listings?
Actually, what else would work with the 4500 viper 4 pole 550 motor?

I ran the VF4.0 (4000kv) 4 pole in my Tekno this past weekend on a fairly small, tight indoor track, average lap times mid 14's, with a 15t it temped at 135. That was with a fan and heatsink, ambient temps were mid to low 90's.
I've had the fan and heatsink on my RevTech 3800kv and it temped at 165-170 on the same track, same esc setups everything.
Power was very linear and strong with the 4k, not overwhelming.
Later on I went to a 16t and ran a full pack after the races (about 10-11 mins) and it temped at 165-170. No fade whatsoever, still had the same pop for the double/table and still blistered down the straight just like it did the first lap.

1/8 motors? We're doing a 1/8 motor? Haven't heard about it ?
......... We are getting closer. I don't want to put a date on anything until I see the shipping docs. I did see the box art!!
Graveyard - as long as you send am item back you can trade it for anything else.
jpk- pm me with why you had to send it back in twice. That is strange.

That is the exact way that my copperhead 4 pole 4500kv combo shuts itself offon the track. Happened last race as I came in to close on a 180 corner and spun out and had steering but no throttle. I lowered my end points and hopefully it will prevent it for next week's race.

As a point of reference for those with Copperhead who experience this. If your vehicle shuts off and still has steering one of 2 things has happen.
1) you hit a thermal cutoff. Something registered a temperature high enough to shut the system off. This can come from running to long, being over geared or even a jolt that causes an arc between the bullet connectors on the motor/esc connection.
2) you hit low voltage cut off. This occurs when the motor's amp draw spikes very high and lowers the batteries voltage. Some batteries are able to handle this spike. Others can drop really quickly below LVC which causes a cut off. Can this happen on new batteries- yes, it depends on the quality (not price) of the cells in question. These spikes can occur from pulling throttle very fast, landing a jump, a crash when on throttle.
Can this happen every run? Yes, if the same factors are in place it can happen over and over. So if it ever does happen. Check your settings. Lower Punch, Start Power and Forward power can lessen that voltage spike. Try a different battery. Check your bullet connectors (tight and no black marks - from the arc).
These questions seem to come up from time to time so I figured I would post some info we see.
