Gary, this is very cost effective. The way I read the rules, you could run a GT-2 car in Gt-1 too. The only negative would be the 1400 grm vs. 1350 grm and a body that is legal in both classes.

OR

you could just change tires on an F-104 and run two classes with that.

I'm not understanding having two types of racing each with two classes with soo much overlap. At least the tires are different in the F-1 classes.

I see endless opportunity Gary. What's your beef?

You see a half empty glass and others see a half full glass. Using my Engineer genes, I see a glass that is twice as large as it need to be......

I can understand the 2 F1 classes foam vs rubber (as well as giving the F103 1 more year) but GT2 and GT1 I don't get why those classes are using the same motor, GT1 should still be using 13.5 motors or at least open up GT1 to any 17.5 motor.

Unfortunately 2010 TCS race is not looking too good for me as there is no room in the budget for new motors or chasis's unless they allow the Novak 17.5 SS Pro that is the same as the one in the rules but only without the yellow ring.

I also don't understand why the original TA05 is not allowed in GT2 as well.

I is unfortunate the way some of these rules seem to be making it harder and harder to be able to participate in this great racing series.

Especially in these tough economic times I feel some of thes rule changes are extremely drastic.

Just my 2 cents

I to may have to skip the 2010 season but not because I dislike the rules I just can't afford the rule changes,

GT1 I have a Hacker 17.5 and a Novak 17.5 (same part number but with the black ring) can't affored to get a new motor No GT1

GT2 I have an orginal TA05, can't afford to get new chasis No GT2

Might be able to do F1 Foam with my F103

1 other thing, motors are not really the problem right now, it is the speed controls that are the issues right now, It won't matter if the motors are spec if someone is using one of the new ESC's that you can still advance timing as well as other stuff that will give advantages to some. If any ESC is allowed any motor should be allowed.

Hopefully given the Economic times Tamiya will rethink some of the rules to allow some of the older stuff people still have.

I have a feeling praticipation will be lower this year at most of the venues.

It is a shame as this series is one of the best things going in this hobby.

Larry,
I knew of one Black Ringed Novak that ran last year in GT2(2009 @Trackside). I am pretty sure they are the same.

They are the same motors but every time I asked last year I was told it had to be the yellow ring motor so there would be no confusion.

I still think in light of all the new advanced speed controls the motor is the least of the problems. They need to concentrate on the speed controls and not the motors.

As I stated on here before, a normal TA05 can be converted for under $30 if you already have the reversible suspension.
I dont understand the motor thing either, but I was running the LRP last year, so I believe that motor is still legal
Overall though things have stayed fairly stable
The GT body rules are interesting
Thanks to Fred and company for getting these done before the New Year

i guess NO ONE stopped to think that now you can run GT1 AND GT2 with the same car.. the only change is the body.

i had a more "inappropriate" response.. but its christmas... and christmas always brings WHINE and some cheese.

read my signature below.

It's Official:
* I like the rules.

Many thanks to Fred and the folks at Tamiya for getting the rules and schedule out before the holidays...and for putting on the best racing series in the hobby, year after year.

Sadly, I won't be able to make Milwaukee due to work commitments, but am pretty sure that the Red Dot Motors International Playboy Driving Team will be in Omaha, Frederick, Memphis and Glen Burnie. Perhaps others as well, we shall see what Mr. Economy does.

See you there!

I guess that I'm out for this year. I can not see spending 200.00+ just to run a free race.

For GT 1

Currently I have 2 17.5 motors, niether are legal...New motor = $80.00
Currently I have 2 NSX bodies, niether are legal...New body = $40.00
Need tires, wheels inserts (about 3 sets) $35.00ea = $105.00

Total $225.00

Why not any ROAR legal 17.5 motor?

I can not see spending this kind of money at this time.
