PICCO .21 BOOST
#242
That same P7-R is now reincarnated as the Boost .21 5TR
The P6 seems to be a new sleeve design for Picco

Decided to try the new BOOST carby on the Boost 3TR very well made and long needles which is different to the carby that comes with the engine.... Plus it moves the idle to the top of the carby when on the engine which makes it easier to get to....If it makes a noticeable improvement I'll drop one on the EDO in the Truggy.

Nice carb, seems to be good quality
That full alu carb should solve all the problems Picco had before with the composite/alu carb and airleaks at the seams (transition alu to composite). Altho, i think the latest gen composite carbs were pretty solid & airleak free aswell.

... the above composite carby has had well over 20ltrs through it with out 1 problem what so ever, The newer Piccos are very well made......

What is the average temperature of this engine
today mine was at 230 to 240 at ideal and 260 plus during running.
Do think it was on high end since I have not cleaned engine from inside for 2 - 3 weeks now? or was that normal

Average temp will vary for every Picco Boost out there, Fuel, Plug, Altitude, Tune on the engine, Me Personally don't even temp engines as i tune on Smoke, sound, feel on the trigger finger. Even what brand car you run it in will vary the temp. If it runs great on the track and say after a 40+min AMain and comes back up the shoot and drops to a perfect idle to me the temp reading is spot on... I see so many people at the races coming in and tuning a engine with a temp gun and hearing "it should run at such and such a temp"...
If i was to give an Average temp i would say 100 to 120 Degree Celsius...
Our little Picco Boost is on its way to 25ltrs and with a new rod @ 20ltr mark still has incredible pop on the flywheel, I like to pull apart the engine every 10 or so liters and just clean the excess carbon off and give the internals the once over....

I am wondering if my needles are out or is engine losing, I am newbie.

We ran the Picco boost again today at a practice session, The new Boost alloy carby is a must it makes tuning the Picco like the old OS VZB engines.....and improves run time we were getting 9:45 to 10:22 all practice.... The lad really likes this engine....Also for a question asked earlier in the thread about temp this boost ran like a champ today in 35deg c heat (typical day here in Perth)the Boost ran at around 120deg c and like the video shows it was not high idling or anything when it came up the shoot...
In the video i put down it was a Picco 2047 pipe its a Picco 2046 with the short header not the long...

Taken from NeoBuggy......
Picco recently put together a private test meeting at the track in Asti, Italy – venue of the successful BittyDesign race & owned by former Italian international soccer star Diego Fuser who kindly allowed the team a couple of days of intensive testing. On hand at the 2012 engine test were factory driver Jorn Neumann, Durango designer & Jorn’s mechanic Gerd Strenge & Picco chief Alberto Picco.
The new 2012 spec Boost engine comes with a multi exhaust system to ensure top of the line performance throughout the engine’s upper RPM band. With a 5 port design the engine performs exceptionally well at the bottom end – a characteristic crucial to handle today’s track designs with short sharp blasts followed by jumps.
