I was having a very hard time with the tune, I ordered the parts today.

an engine that will change tun every second of every lap , have no bottom end or top end and will blow up very soon

I had to use Odonnell SP Blend 30% to break-in (1gallon) and now I got my Bryons 30% 11% case. Anyway I wanted to tune motor to fuel this afternoon and had hard time trying to decide which way to go with needles. I richened top about 2hrs of the bat and top end seems good but I am having a time getting idle to smooth out it's tough because it seems to load up and rev a little when I get off throttle and then drop but it's a little unstable up and down like it's lean but if i richen it stalls .5 mm gap idle. Tons of smoke on bottom when accel. Temps are low while running 210f and 190f idle if I had alot of time I could figure it out but working late and racing early Saturday. I didn't really want to use Odonnell but I kind of started liking it despite low oil content still had pinch after 1 gallon after two tanks of Bryrons metal pinch is gone same running temps with both fuels. Other than idle unstable motor runs great and will idle forever. How tight should the pinch bolt be I hope I didn't tighten to much.(air leak?) Any ideas or help , Thanks!

Sounds more like your LSN is a little rich. When you go back to idle after being on throttle, there is some extra fuel that it is consuming and hence the higher revs before going back to normal idle.

When you richened the LSN, you are causing it to bog and stall. Lean out the LSN. If you give it some gas and go back to idle, it may rev for an extended period of time. This is good. Then adjust your idle stop screw accordingly.

As you lean the LSN, you may need to richen the HSN, but since you already richened the HSN 2 hours and assuming you have a good top end with a trace of smoke at WOT, my guess is that your HSN is probably good.

Also make sure you don't have any air leaks or a torn carb boot. These things could cause unsteady idle.

Robert Battle took the win with his Bonito 7xlbs. Robert had a very cleaver strategy for the final: he was the only driver refuelling around 9 minutes; this allowed the spanish ace to pit-stop one time less than his challengers and took the win.

Jerome Aigoin took the pole position with his PLUS 4 BTTS, led the main final for almost 30 minutes and took a very good 2nd place.

a real prick to start and when you do get it running you will have a crappy idle and tune will be impossible to achieve so throw on a new boot and install a front bearing , I put a small cable tie around my boot just in case throw in a new plug then retune should be sweet after that

wow I cant believe he got his bonito to use less fuel than the btt

I recently got a Bonito XLB. Ran about 2 gallons of Cosmos 30% fuel with a Nova 6 plug in 1 week. And I have been chasing the idle ever since. I have not reshimed, she is still at 2 X 0.3mm and 1 X 0.2mm.

Problems I faced : -

1) erratic idle and flames out easily
2) When she is at operating temp (125-135 C), she gets difficult to start. I have to open the fuel lid, insert the glow starter and only then will she starts. And after she starts, I need to gun her to clear the bottom. If I do not gun her, she bogs and flame out. I know i need to lean the LSN to clear this, but at 130 C, I still need to lean the LSN? LSN is about flush, looking directly at her, she is about 3-4 o'clock.

I guess 1 and 2 are related but I have been chasing those 2 for days and nothing that I do seems to get me closer to the perfect tune.

No air leakage. Pressure hose is about 10 inches. Clean air filter.

Anyone knows where I can get Nova shims part no 03005xl, 03003xl and 03001xl?

Hello my fellow rc brothers. Does anybody have any experience with one of the newer P5xlt's? I am not happy with the latest generation of OS motors and am looking for something that I can depend on, and is priced right. I would love a Bonito or Plus 4 but they are out of my price range, the P5 fits the bill. My main concern is mileage. Will a P5 with the appropriate pipe, header, etc pull the the magic 10 min pit. I know there a bunch of variables but for the most part I run on a medium indoor track and am pretty smooth on the throttle. I know novarossi's are solid I just left them for a while due to a bad experience with the first run of plus 4's. Thoughts or input?

Monty would you recomend removing that shim on any of the bonito's after they are broke in?
