NOVAROSSI Engine thread....

what is the other engine? i would guess the 20/12 is the Roma crank, assuming the 12 represents 2012 manufacture year

Depends on how much you want to spend. Some will say the P5 is a truck engine, but it's hard to beat for the price (~$215) stock. Plus 4 has many different versions and will be a little smoother down low, with a bit more top than the P5 stock.

As the others said, the 21-4 in any version is a great engine for a buggy, very drive-able powerband, especially when paired with a 9901/41021 pipe combo. Price wise tho, the P5XLT is a little easier on the wallet, has a bit more low-end grunt and doesnt rev quite as high, but is killer in a buggy too, just might not be as smooth for a new driver

The P5 HES is pretty damn good too. Seen one walk a stock plus 4 Team on a front straight. But on the other hand, the plus 4 btt motors are very smooth, almost electric like. A tuned plus 4 is the best of both worlds

I went and purchased a plus21-4 with steel bearings and it lasted me almost 2 years and just over 40L.
Best decision I ever made and it held a tune the whole time.
You can get some great bargains on the plus21-4, around the $200 mark. I would go for this engine hands down.
Plus its got amazing milage and smooth power. You just need to be slow with the breaking. Its painful but worth it in the long run.
Heat cycle and get a full gallon through it before you race it

what I can say is its totally worth it. I have 3 engines in my rotation which have all been broken in correctly and they are all performing perfectly. and unlike other engines which only last 10L you get 4X that from a nova

I have a quick question. I have been reading through this thread and am a little confused on the bearing issues. I am considering buying a nova engine. (never have owned one) I am looking at the 21 4c or possibly a btt. Do these front bearing issues still exist on the current production nova engines? Thats pretty much it. Just confused about the bearing issues. Thanks in advance. Tim

Interesting thing i noticed another bearing change on the p5xlt , not a 17011 but not bad , decent seal
