NOVAROSSI Engine thread....

I run an Ascendancy 4 shoe clutch. I figured with a stock Toro/Bonito i would need stiffer clutch springs along with the alum shoes and go down a tooth on clutchbell or maybe leave it alone @ a 13. With my modded one I'm running 4 .9s with the alum shoes and a 14T clutchbell. I have no complaints about grunt with a modded one, so maybe keep that in mind if you have the cash.
Otherwise as far as stock Novarossi engines go, the P5XLT is a stump puller, and much cheaper than the Bonito, just doesn't quite have the top-end.
What I've found is you really need to buy an engine that suits the tracks you race on. If you run on really big, wide flowing tracks, a stock Bonito will be fine since the low-end grunt isn't as necessary. If you run on shorter, tight tracks, something like the P5XLT will be beneficial.
I love my PowerHouse Toro Nero Team, but the track i race on regularly has no big straightaways and a lot of tight corners, so i cant use the engine to its potential, as i never use full throttle. The only advantage it has over the P5XLT i have is a bit of runtime.
My setups, both engines modded by PowerHouse:
Toro Nero Team
7mm restrictor
Ascendancy clutch, alum flywheel
(4) .9 springs, alum shoes
9901SS/41020 header
~10 min runtimes average
P5XLT
6.5mm restrictor
Werks Pro "Light" clutch
(2) .9s (2) 1.0s, alum shoes
2084SS/41021 header
~9.5 min runtimes average

Thanks, I run on a lot of different tracks being that I live in SoCal. I saw Drake running one in his 8T and it looked really good, but you can't use him as a starting point his engine had a welded back plate. I will be running a STRR EVO.

Like i said, if you have the cash a PowerHouse modded Bonito will be the ticket, plenty of low-end for the short/tight tracks and more than enough top-end for the big ones

Is it right after the corner or are you on throttle for a moment before it happens . A while ago something similar happened to me . Couldn't figure it out,new tank, lines ,plug ,gaskets. Ended up taking my carb out and flushed it completely with motor spray . Fixed my issue ,must of been a small piece of debris at the nipple or somethin. Worth a try

have you had an experienced novarossi tuner look at it for ya ?
if you are coming from OS engines the novarossi carb will throw you a little curveball , you actually have to tune them

all kidding aside though , if you are stilll having some issues afetr getting an xperienced novarossi tuner to dial it in there might be a little more to it than the engine

good base starting points for the needles are 4.25 turns from bottomed out on lsn (pull slide barrel out to do this) , 3.5 out from bottomed out on hsn and idle screw open 3/4 turn from just closed (pull insert out push on slide barrel , close idle screw until all airgap is "just" gone then reopen the desired amount)
hope this helps bro

Instead of yacking about how good it is I Will post some videos of it in action... to me nothing is better then a video of the engine in action....
