Hello, this is probably going to sound real stupid. On the Team Orion website when you click on the Jared Tebo thing at the top and it goes to the results and article about him winning ROAR. The engine model # that is listed, the one he uses is ORI80656, I cannot find this engine anywhere on their site. I have looked for quite a while and I dunno, maybe my eyes are going bad and I completely missed it but i can't find. Am i missing something here?? Thanks for the help.

+1 on the .24 truggy engine. I got a friend who has just hit about the gallon mark and it screams, not mentioning it still hasnt seen a high temp is very impresive. run times are like a .21 aswell from the looks of it so far.

PitPop, how does the Alpha Econo motor perform? Have you or Cody actually tested it? Is the 2066 pipe "THE" pipe for it?

I ask because a friend and local racer, just picked up Orion as a sponsor.. I've seen his "CRF" Alpha on both Buggy and Truggy with 2013 and they RIP.. Although it seems a tad soft on truggy, even his words, but it is still enough. I am considering picking up a couple of the Econo "Alphas" for next season, but am torn, as Mike is the only guy around here that has ever run an Orion, and he just picked them up. I'll be running them in buggy only. I last ran RB S5 and eXtech .24 in that buggy.. RB let go after 6+ gallons, ran my old truggy engine for something to race.

What are the differences in the Econo and CRF Alpha motors? I know the CRF Alpha has the slotted crank, but otherwise what are the differences?

We have not actually tested the econo engine, but it's funny you ask, because they gave us one to run! :) We haven't had a chance to run it yet with the Worlds looming, but after Thailand, that will be the plan. Honestly, the main difference of course the main bearing is steel instead of ceramic. IMO that should not deter someone from running the engines. The steel bearings are fine and run strong with great durability. You will not find an engine manufactured today that has higher quality materials than the Orion engines. If cared for properly, they run a long long time. We've run a lot of different engines over the years, and once the seal is established between piston and sleeve with these engines, it is going to perform at a high level for an extended period of time. Longer than any other engine I have used. The econo (or Discovery is what I think they are calling them next year) engine will have the standard crank as you mentioned, and I am guessing a standard plug. I can tell you as a person who stays in touch with my roots and remembering what it was like buying engines and wanting the durability and performance, there is no engine that will provide the fuel economy, smooth powerband, and durability of the 3 port Discovery. The price point will be very good too even for an Italian engine...

On the pipe, I think the 2058 is the pipe for this engine now. We ran the 2013 which is a great pipe, but it is very loud. The 2058 provides the same power, and perhaps a little more smooth bottom end, and also it's a bit quieter and legal in Europe or in EFRA blocks for competition.

Not to say we haven't run these engines with steel bearings. Only a couple years removed from running the CL3B, which I'm sure has the same bearings as the Discovery engines, and those engines performed every bit as well as our modern ceramic equipped mills.

I bought one orion 5 port discorvery yesterday and let everyone know how it is but not intill Dec.Waiting for my new buggy:).Orion seem like they have some nice nitro products going and pitpop seem he has good info on the orion engines that i cant get anywhere else.:nod: pitpop is a great rep for orion engine just as he was for sirio.:tire:

I'm feeling more and more secure in purchasing a couple of orion Alphas everyday.. I've had 2 sirio Evo4 sti's and a eXtech .24 and liked all 3. I still have all 3 actually, but the two Evos are pretty well wore out, and past their prime. The eXtech has been a good motor, I ran it in truggy, until I sold truggy, then used it in buggy w/2057 pipe, and like it alot.. Fuel mileage could be better, but it take great trigger finger to keep tires from not breaking loose at every corner.. I did have it pinched once at 4 gallons, but it was entirely my fault, it was lean, and I didn't recognize soon enough, and when it started running poorly I leaned it more rather then richen, which caused this motor that normally ran around 210 to hit nearly 300, and it lost compression almost immediately after that.. But I learned a very important lesson..

PitPop when you all do test, will you try the 2066 pipe at all? I ask because it is offered in a couple of the orion combos for the Alpha.. If I can get a combo that works well then I would just as soon do that, but have no problem running/getting a different pipe either..

I think the 2066 was originally for the US Spec? I will see if we can test with that pipe and give you some feedback. The Alphas seem to like a more free breathing pipe, so I can't imagine the 2066 to be performing better than 2013 or 2058.

Let me tell you, the engines have changed SO much since your EVO4 and the previous engines. This newest generation of Team Orion Alpha has absolutely no parts in common with the older engines. Completely redesigned combustion chamber, totally different porting and timing, different materials in the piston and crank case, new aluminum body carburetor made specifically for Team Orion... wholesale changes to the point there is nothing in common with the engines from 2 years ago.

Anybody know if there's a 2058 offroad pipe and manifold set? I found them with onroad manifolds.

Hey Scotty! I just bought an ABI and ran it one race all I can say is awesome!! I had only ran about a gallon through the engine and it seems to perform great!! I was using 2013 pipe didn't have a chance to try 2057 but so far it is my new engine for next season!! is there going to be an indoor track in Springfield this winter that is racing nitro?
