hmmm... not that I can think of, that pipe is a beast, it makes power everywhere pretty much. If you want bottom end, I think run an extender or longer headpipe. I think that will give a little more bottom and less top.

I have the MTE engine with the 2013 pipe, I was wondering what pipe can I use to get a little more run time???? I'm also using the 6.5mm carb.

honestly, the pipe isn't going to yield a ton of mileage... we tested it against OS pipes and some others, it's just not even measurable... mileage is a combination of things, epa setting, tune, fuel, driving habits, etc.

So If I only open the carb say 80% would that yield me more run mileage???

absolutely... you would be surprised how far down you can turn it ;) just try it and see if it works for you...

Pitpop, is the std 3 port orion is like the sirio cl3 . I like the cl3 and if the orion is like that I will go buy one.

The cl3 is where it all started, now the Alpha 3 port is a much improved version of the cl3. Especially the CRF Alpha 3 port, it's even more improved with the carb and crank...

So is the 2058 not released yet? I can't find it anywhere. Also, what extender are you using for it (brand, length, link, lol)

Right as i'm looking for a new engine i've 'stumbled' accross the 3port CRF Alpha ABI with 2057 combo. I've also got a AE 2035 knocking about in the pit bag which i've seen a few people use. Has anybody used the 2066 pipe from Orion and compared it with the Orion 2057 & AE 2035 (can't use the 2013)??? Also from what i've read so far, an Orion No.5 and 6 plugs are generally used. With this engine what is the standard carb insert/restrictor??? Is it a 7mm? I'm a fairly smooth driver but with my current engine i'm hanging back loads, about 2secs per lap on a track to get 10mins (have to do a no stop as if you do, you're ain't bumping up).

Mind is made up for sure now! Now i know a load of people will have soooo many answers to the break-in of a engine but, if anyone used the heat-cycle method previously before owning this engine have you changed or modified your approach to running-in the engine? I've generally used the WOT keeping it mega rich (but at 200F) on the box method for the last 2 engines. . . might play it safe and do the heat cycle method if i don't hear anything.

ABI Engine

Hi. Is an ABI engine (Crank) cut the same as a CRF (Crank)??

Also, when using a CRF 7 port engine, what is the best pipe for the job??

Thanks.

Bearing

Does anyone know the rear bearing sizes for the following.

CRF .21
ABI Alpha .21

Now the next question.

is the Orion Alpha ABI considered a CRF Engine?

Is the block the same on all engines?

rcmadnes 10-09-2010 12:12 PM

I just switched to Orion and love them!! I have been running O.S. Speeds for a couple of years now and I've got to say that the Orion is amazing! 3P with 2013 pipe in buggy and truggy. One gallon into the buggy engine and did a mileage test: 10:54 minutes..........

There's 5 Orion .21 Alpha engines (Made in Star Engines / Sirio factory)

Normal crank:
-Orion Alpha 3 port
-Orion Alpha ABI 3 port (ABI = Adrien Bertin Influenced = better tolerances / handfited / ceramic bearing)

With CRF crank:
-Orion Alpha ABI CRF 3 port
-Orion Alpha ABI CRF 5 port
-Orion Alpha ABI CRF 7 port

Excellent

H e y. Thanks much.

Does anyone know the bearing size for the rear and are they all the same??

Thanks
