Hey Scotty! I just bought an ABI and ran it one race all I can say is awesome!! I had only ran about a gallon through the engine and it seems to perform great!! I was using 2013 pipe didn't have a chance to try 2057 but so far it is my new engine for next season!! is there going to be an indoor track in Springfield this winter that is racing nitro?
S.Hall As for the track i have no idea. Rumor has it Sean Thomas is going to build one, but it was supposed to have started already. About a week or so ago he posted something on Heartland about it, but nothing since.. Also, if it happens I am not sure if it will be Nitro/"E" power or "E" only.. |
yeah I read that too and the SC's are taking over me and Nick hate them. But it is a good entry to the sport for some potential racers.Even if there was going to be an indoor nitro I don't think I would go as much as last winter. But I did make it to the Kit's track for their October Fest and came home with a 3rd place trophy! That track and place was a blast man! You have to come out next year.

How does the Orion motor compare to the Werks you ran last season, and which ABI Alpha did you pick up? |
The Orion is a three port and the werks a five power is very comparble but the Orion was only giving me 6 mins with the 2013 pipe probably due to an overly rich setting(still running in)I got this because my son will be running my B5 next season and I got a heck of a deal on it new from someone getting out. (230.00 new in box and a used x1cr wich My Son will be running next year)http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ine-Turbo-Plug
I will still be buying another Werks as a back up ready to drop in when needed and of course Torco!! |
Orion has a 5 port out now. The discovery and CRF version.

The discovery is great bang for the buck. You can get the motor and 2057 pipe combo for about $320-$360 depending on your dealer. The CRF will be the all out racing version. Expect to pay $340 for the motor alone.

I don't know if you guys have talked about this before on the thread, but I wanted to talk about the manual stating that break in should be done with 16% nitro content?? Is this a must? if so, which 16% nitro fuel do you recommend?

Anyone have some runtimes in a buggy on the ORI80656 7 port engine?
|
Under normal atmospheric conditions (example not high altitude like Colorado) the 7 port would be too much in buggy. Sorry no runtimes as I haven't ran the 7 port.
I break in engines with a high quality 30% fuel. For those over sees it would be 25% fuel. Any manual will tell you to break in with fuel of 16% oil and low nitro percentage. This is the old way of engine break in. Read the sticky at the top of the page and enjoy your engine. |
I run an engine that shares the same size rear engine bearing, 14.2x25.3. I would like to put a new rear ceramic bearing in it. Anybody with experience good or bad with the different brands? The werks ceramic is $73. No can do. Boca and tko have a ceramic in that size. Can you guys steer me in the right direction? Unfortunately my bearing sponsor doesn't carry this size. On A Main the review for the tko in a werks is terrible. 7 litres and it went. Only review there was for that size bearing. Now i'm leary.

Pitpop or any of you guys running the Alpha, what kind of temps are you getting? I'm only about 243 with a JP-4 pipe and my run times are only around 6 mins. which isn't good, thinking I need to lean this puppy on out some more! Its making lots of power, but could be better I'm sure, I've have heard around 270 is ideal? thanks!

Wow...Team Orion takes home 2010 ROAR buggy and truggy nats and now is also IFMAR 1/8 World Champ. Good year I would say. Still can't believe that I do not see more people using these engines.
