Thanks!
I got the bearing off: it was a bearing and a spacer...stuck together.
The car is completely in pieces now, has been through the dishwasher, moving parts are lubricated again.
Some small parts need to be replaced and are ordered.
As soon as I get them I can put everything back together.

Some snake-newby questions:
-are there supposed to be markings on the spur gears? I don't see them...there's a "6" or "9" on one and a "0" on the other, but no other markings. The pulleys have markings on them with the number of teeth.

- Do standard size servo's fit both for steering and throttle? Or do I need low profile servo's

- I have a JR/Graupner SB6 synthesizer Rx (it's in Germany now...it got wet...needs to be repaired/replaced...). Will that fit in the radio tray, or do you need a special micro RX?

In de VAATWASSER!!!, je bent gek!......

How could you come up with the idea to put engine part in the dishwasher?......

Putting silicone in it yourself is not a good idea, and I don't even think you will notice any difference.......

Default Still confused..

Maybe a little OT, but I'm still struggling with my engine.

I emailed Novarossi Italy and (they don't give any e-mail addresses on their site, but made one up and it worked...got a reply) by the picture I send them, they say it's a RR12L3....and that it can't be a 11 mm crankshaft, because that won't fit in that crankcase......
That sounds logical, but I measured the crankshaft and it looks like 11mm....
The crankshaft has all the features and looks like a NovaMega SX12RE Michael Salven Edition: it has the so called turbo scoops (non-MS SX12 don't have those scoops).
The only things that look different from the NovaMega SX12 MS are the crankcase (mine says NOVA on one and 12 R on the other side, exactly like the RR12L3) and the carb (mine has the Novarossi R on it and doesn't have/can't have restrictor).
The SX12 MS crankshaft is 11 mm and should't fit in the RR12L3 crankcase...
My crankshaft looks exactly like the MS crankshaft and is 11 mm.....

I was thinking of putting sillicon in the intake of the crankshaft (like the crankshaft of the RR12L3 has...), so I degreased it very well (dishwasher), but now it looks a wee bit rusty...
When I send these pics to Italy they will probably get tears in their eyes...

I haven't seen Mr. Salven on this forum lately, but maybe he could shine some light on this matter....
Here are some pics of how the crankshaft should look like:

For those who got upset.....
I polished the crankshaft a little...

As you can see: no harm done.
Why I put it in the dishwasher??
Because it degreases very well, in places where you can't reach with a brush.

@M7H: nice to see you here too!
As you call me crazy: give me some good reasons not to do it.

Looking better now...
BUT, degreasing your engine can easily (or even better) be done with brakecleaner.......

Putting your car parts in the diswasher is fine by me.....

Why do you want to know?
Do you need to replace parts?.....

It looks like an older model nova based engine. NovaMega RB Nova Rex, in essence it's all the same. The components are the same.

If the crank is 11mm it's definately an enginedesign of more than 2 years ago. In 2003 we already had the 11.5mm crancshafts.

The carb looks like a model from the cheaper end of the line as it has no changable venturi. But the crank has some work to it. Seems the Novarossi version mixed the lower end carb with the higher end crank.

I'm sure the RS12S1 came with the shitty carb and the turbo crank.

Number on the spur indicates no of teeth.
"0" = 60
"1" = 61
"6" = 56
"7" = 57
etc.

Yes, standard size servos will fit.

Thanks for the replies.

I've been in contact with NovaRossi about the engine, and they say it's an old XT12...6-7 years old
Maybe it's a mix of parts from different engines.
All parts look very similar to the NovaMega SX12 RE-T MS
http://www.mytsn.com/products/product.asp?prid=680

I bought car and engine at eBay, and seller's description stated a NS12S5....but it's not.
I'm still trying to communicate with seller to settle this.
He sells his car as "upgraded for racing" with 4-shoe centax (??) and engine only has 1 gallon through it...sure..

Now on eBay from seller ( Fei Long from Canada, [email protected]...be warned): a 950R with RB C3 ....

Well ...the car is OK...
I wonder if there are still parts available for NovaMega SX12 engines???

Smile Transmission Set Up

Good morning Julius, I have a question in reference to Transmission, you had two different set in two different races.

After dominating the Set Up of my car in all areas but transmission (I purposely left for last). I am trying to get the best I can, the place I am raising is a small tract with a small straight with a sweeper with three tight turns, I am using a Novarossi LL5 what will be the best transmission set up to use I am using 17/61 22/56

Tires Front 62.5 / 40 40 Rear 60.5 / 40 42 (Front 21T side pulley)

Thanks

After reading your post I had a look through my setups. And I probably forgot to save the AMCA setup after I made it because it was all wrong! It was a copy of my Heemstede setup. Actually I used 17/22 and 61/57 in apeldoorn. It is a technical track with a short straight. So I think that gear setup may well work for you. I'm not a fan of using a 16 on the first gear. I've used it with 59 On the 2speed without problems but I find it just gives more whellspin and not better acceleration. Only if you run on a very short straight the 21T second with a 55T would be an option.

Mostly I like tou use the torque of the engine so I run longer gears and make sure the clutch is set correctly.

Thanks very much Julius I was thinking on the 17/22 61/55 as an option for a short straight with very tide corners, I will try it to see tomorrow I will be practicing.
