they both fit, both have plenty of torque, both are plenty fast, both have metal gears and other commonalities. so you should have no problems with either one.
like i said, i run the 9450's and have no problems.
as far as the 3pk... well... i have a 3pjs which is about to get traded up to t 3pk, but i have no actual life experience with the radio, but its my choice over the helios.
maybe others can provide more... "objective" view of the radios, but i like futaba.

Here is my outlaw Ssssssnake car, IF my site is still online that is.

The other car uses the larger normal servos (945o initially, now the WRX series). Works just as well.

I like the fact that it feels balanced in your hands, this is important in a long main.
It's large screen faces you (mostly) which is very handy if you need to sneak a peek while your pitman is refuelling in the battle during a race.
It has built in failsafe, both for Rx low-voltage and radio interference. No need to get a seperate unit to plonk on your car.
It's menus are logical and has everything you'll ever need for car racing.
It's timer is easy to set if you need to keep an "ear" on your fuel.
I like the Sanwa M8 also but its slightly heavier, no failsafe and I find the timer awkward. Its also more expensive than the 3PK feature for feature.
I have not tested or tried the Ko-Helios. The ergonomics looks comfortable but still no built in failsafe.
All in all, I would consider these 3 radios if you prefer to use the wheel type. 3PK first, Sanwa M8 and then the Helios.

I agree....the 3 pk is a very intuitive radio.......
Try using a neck strap with it......It hangs at the perfect angle...real comfy for long mains...

Personally, I'd rather spend that amount of money on a good engine like the JP-FX.

Well Kevin, since it's about the same cost for an engine, I guess we can just leave the engine out with just the rolling chassis and just have the Hudy for bench racing.

I have to admit that the Helios looks good and feels more balanced when the antenna is extended. Feels more comfortable than the 3PK but the only thing I'm still rooting for 3PK is due to the large screen (eyes getting old) and fail safe function. Sadly, the 3PK is not as computer savy as the Helios. With the Helios, you're able to interface with the computer and save / upload your settings etc.
