Im using the high speed gear set with the optional 64T spur gear and 29T pinion. This puts me at 5.74. Is there any way to go lower? Is there a smaller spur gear I can use or a 06 module 35/35T pinion set? I can't seem to find anything like this. Basically whats the easiest way to get my FDR lower. Secondly, would a silver can on a medium sized track handle an FDR in the 4's?

You could use some 64pitch spurs and pinions, i'm able to use a 90T spur with a 50T pinion on this chassis.
That will give you a FDR 4.68, As long as you have the right spurs&pinions you can go even lower then 4.68. |

FDR of 4.35 above If you get the TT02 adjustable motor mount then maybe lower ones are available. |
Okay so I can use any 64 pitch spur gear with the high speed gear set? I thought maybe were limited to a couple 04 module Tamiya gears.

Will test these rally tyres soon.
Kyosho rallies and speed mind rallies soft compound. :D |

You can use any make / pitch as long as it has the cross fitting holes. (Most cars have these other than X-rays)

Okay thanks. Then I guess the real question is can a silver can handle it on the TA track. I'm running temps of about 160-170 after an 8 minute run geared at 5.74. I'm hoping I can pull off something in the 4's.
Although with those temps I would look at getting a metal motor mount, the plastic could warp. Look for the Yeah racing TT02 adjustable one :) |

Qatmix not sure if you've mentioned it earlier but are you running any ball diffs in your tt02? Maybe its even overkill for the starting price of this chassis... im wondering if there's much gain - but then maybe also depends for off/on road racing?
My lancia built in late man this year. My first ever hobby grade rc. Took the rear spoiler off as it got in the way from cartwheels off jumps |
I have made an article on how to get the FDR's needed to run Blinky / VTA with a TT02
TT02 Blinky As to a Ball diff I have not used one in my car, I am considering fitting one to test in my car but it runs well without.. (Maybe one day someone will make a proper oil gear diff for the TT02) |

Tt02 thread seems prett quiet lately... Have we moved on from it? :p
So finally got a bit more testing... Speedmind pin type soft compound as attached seemed to have a tad more traction than the rally blocks on a hard packed dusty off road track. Haven't tested the kyoshos but the rims come really close to the suspension, nearly touching. |
I was wondering if any TT02 runners hve any TT01s in their fleets ? If so does any one know if the high speed spur gear adapter for the TT02 http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=54500 fits the TT01 ? I was then wondering if the Yeah Racing adjustable motor mount http://www.thercracer.com/2013/09/ye...tor-mount.html would also work on a TT01 ? Any advise would be appreciated.
TOO LATE, I just ordered the TT02 high sped gearset. I'll see if it works myself on the TT01 or can be modded to do so ! http://www.majhost.com/gallery/bigfa.../img_8679x.jpg before install of TT02 spur gear adapter into TT01 w/ standard tub chassis http://www.majhost.com/gallery/bigfa...1/100_0605.jpg http://www.majhost.com/gallery/bigfa...1/100_0609.jpg and after installation and changing over to CF chassis http://www.majhost.com/gallery/bigfa...1/100_1507.jpg http://www.majhost.com/gallery/bigfa.../100_1510x.jpg Its remarkable, the TT02 spur gear adapter is a perfect fit for the TT01, I wonder, how close these two chassis are in other aspects ? |
Hi,
Just wanted to show you my TT-02. It has a 3280kv 13.5t Team Orion brushless, 25/68t running on NiMH 5000 mAh and Lipo 2s 4200 mAh. This combination is perfect for both Rally and bashing on a local parking aera. It has alot of tamiya hop-ups. But it could't help completely fixing the steering slop. I am very happy with it but can't compare as it's my first car. I'd like to post pictures but I first have to get a certain amount of posts....do you know how much? |
Hi Cap,
Looking forward to seeing pictures - You need about 10 posts first. I've found the eagle racing alloy steering set with bearings, available from Broadtech, to improve steering significantly. It's almost identical (only differs by steering arm length) to the one pictured on my TT02B in the off-road section. Cheers, Crouch |
