So similar to the TT01, I guess Tamiya felt the need to freshen up its entry level chassis. I suspect that soon it will have comparable levels of bling available. I had the same problem on my Lancia Delta TT-02. Fixed it doing the following:

1) Reduce steering servo course. (from 100% to 66% in my case)

2) Put a 3mm piece of well greased sillicone hose between the dog bone and the shaft of each wheel to reduce slop.

3) Enjoy !

Tamiya's TT-02 is a great car. I mounted a Brushless Neon Combo 17T on it which gives me a lot of fun on and off-road (I bought two sets of tires, one for each surface)

I'm planning to buy the HPI BMW 2002 shell. Will it fit the TT-02? Any adjustments needed? Special Rims? How much offset?

The HPI bmw2002 won't fit the TT-02 chassis, cause it's for an m-chassis and the wheelbase is only 210 or 225mm and that's to short for a TT-02. Plus it will be to narrow to.

Ok, fine. I'll never get this size thing. Would the Hpi DeTomaso fit then?

the wheelbase is the distance between the front and rear wheel? It's explained in the instructions?

The TT02 can be adjusted from 251-257mm... do you know the wheelbase of the DeTomaso? And even so, what's the width?

I put on a 180sx body (for drifting later) which had a wheelbase of 260mm... it fits.. but its a wider body so its a bit awkward looking...

TT-02 is 257mm, the 2mm difference won't be a problem right?

Edit: Found a website telling me to put 0mm offset in the front and 6mm in the rear...

Has anyone taken their tt02r to an off road track? Do you feel the rally tyres are sufficient or are lacking? Im wondering if anyone knows of any alternatives

I ran in a forest on wet ground with leafs. Rally tyres were at the limit of their potential, hard to keep on the small paths you can find in a forest. I mostly run on snow, it's just absolute fun.

I recently bought the Kyosho DRX TRT21 tyres, I'll try them out soon and give a feedback.

Any good advice for tyres, I mean generally?

I'm in the middle of making a very tuned TT02 with some custom parts. I also managed to try out the new steering step screw hop-ups.

They are not as awesome as the steering set, but they are so cheap they act as a good upgrade if you do not want to spend the cash on the aluminium steering set-up.

that looks good. I think I will add them on my list of new parts to upgrade my car.

Also I have been running the TT02 against some friends. I will be racing it soon at a local onroad club. The car has the kit motor, should I leave that in and get used to the track or should I buy a new motor? I did use to race but that was a long time ago.

Found the problem. When building the TT02 I thought I'd take the play out of the steering by over tightening the plastic balls; squeezing them to make them expand. This was a bad idea because it caused binding in the steering. All is good now that I have loosened it up.

We had it out in melting snow and had a great time with it. It has a waterproof Traxxas servo, and waterproof XL5 speed controller and waterproof Traxxas radio box. I just washed the car off under running water when we were done for the day.

is anyone still using the stock servo? I'm having no issues with it.. or maybe there could be a lot more potential with the high torque servo saver which I tried to setup but failed.

Im using the yeahracing adjustable tie rod and my trim now is at 4 points to the right out of 30 (used to be about 20 with the stock part!)
