I've mounted a Speedpassion V3 21.5T motor with a cirtix stock club esc, will test this combo thursday night at our club that will be re-opened after a summer stop of 6 weeks.
Very excited about driving the car on carpet, have high hopes.

Those were the things i did when i use plastic knuckles. Dont let the arms wobble so much and use anti wear grease.

Hi, I am looking to get back into the hobby after a long break. The last car I has was a TB01 would this be a good car? I am also looking at the TB04 but this is already available at my local hobby store. Also can you get a front one way for this car?

I thought the TT-01 front one-way option part (53671) is a direct fit for the tt-02 chassis.

Wonder if my tt01 options will fit it...........

Depends on the option parts you are thinking of cause not all those option parts can be used on a TT-02 chassis

1. Does anyone know definitively if the TT-01 is being discontinued?

Our local track has a Spec TT-01 class and the discontinuation of the TT-01 will really affect that class.

2. I'm getting the impression that there is no way to create an "equivalency formula" to equalize the TT-02 to the TT-01? Even if you specified a gear ratio I'm betting that the handling characteristics of the TT-02 will render the TT-01 woefully uncompetitive. Thoughts?

3. How much money are we talking for a TT-02 plus oil shocks/dampers plus bearings?

Depends where you buy the kit. I can get them japan for around the 70 plus the oil shock which is about 15 more so 85 and then shipping costs, 30 bucks. So thats 115 to my door.

You mean you can get the oil shocks for $15? May i ask are those TRF?

Cheapest TT02 Kit I found was from RC Mart for $93 USD and a set of TRF shocks costing $45. I would love to hear more from Pokiou where he shops. It would make me buy a new kit in a hearbeat.

IMO: the TT01 will be discontinued because for Tamiya, it makes sense to require everyone to start buying new kits and upgrades. Just like upgrading phones and gadgets, everyone wants the latest and greatest. And even if they hold out as long as possible, eventually things get dated and require upgrades.

Drove my TT-02 yesterday at the club and the car is still getting better.
I'm using a 21.5T V3 speedpassion motor along with a cirtix club stock esc.
This is a rather slow combo as i was driving an FDR of 4.68 (90T spur&50T pinion).
I was just able to keep up with the other guys who were running a carson cup motor with a fdr of 6.28 (58T spur&24T pinion combo in their TT-01E cars)
There was another guy with a TT-02 who was even running a FDR of 7.28 (70T spur&25T pinion) with also a (brushed) carson cup motor and the speed was just the same as my car.
The car is going good but the motor/esc combo is a bit slow, the only positive thing i noticed is when the car comes of the track the motor is after running for about 20 minutes only 56°C warm (not using a fan to cool the motor while driving)
Though it's a good combo for an endurance race :)

Hi guys, finished building my tt-02 with everything stock but bearings all around. Hope to get a chance to try it out(first time with on-road). Will the car with stock motor be really slow? What can i do to make it quicker and more suit to the local track with not quite long straight, will only changing the spur gear to Tamiya Speed Gear be enough? Any thoughts and advice?
Btw, does anyone cut the 'very long' body post or just leave it that way?

At our club we have a large carpet track (30mx12m) and the guys with a TT-01 chassis are running 58T spur with a 24T pinion.
Is almost equal to a 64T spur with a 26T or 27T pinion in a TT-02 chassis.
I never cut the body posts down, this wil protect the roof of the car when the car is upside down cause of a crash.

I have spoke to guys at my local club and they are running 3.9 FDR in 17.5 can the TT02 do this?
