The no part depends on two factors, how smooth is the asphalt, and is it treated with sugar water/soda. If the surface is very uneven or has lots of cracks/breaks in the asphalt running a 1/12 pan car will be challenging. Remember that tc's have lots of suspension travel and a much bigger wheelbase which allows them to absorb these bumps easier. Same goes for the track prep, little or no track prep will make finding traction difficult. Its not impossible to run 1/12 on a rough unpreped track, but it does take some of the fun out of it:nod:

Whats the issue if its a 1/8th track.
Thanks

Its not really an issue per se but the only 1/8 tracks I ever seen are huge and flowing and would be somewhat boring for 1/12 imo. To me the fun part of 1/12 is tight turns and quick direction changes:nod:.

I removed the posts and my responses. They really didn't belong here.

Thanks, Scottrik.

Good 1st 1/12

Hi

Am looking at getting my first 1/12 and would like some recommendation on a chassis.
I will be looking at second hand chassis so i was thinking about a DB12R or RC12R5.
I like the RC12R5 as parts seem to be easy to come by (my location is Australia).
I will be starting with a high turn motor to get the feel of the car as well as setup before going too fast.

What are the general thoughts on these chassis?

Thanks

Oh...about three millimeters off the deck. Any lower isn't legal :sneaky:

:lol::lol::lol:...

I guess i formulated the question wrong.

Lets see... What motors are being used in the modified class in the World's? Like how many turns? Brushed or Brushless?

My personal choice is the BMI, because thats what I run. I have a 12r5 also and either car can win at any venue.

i would look at the speedmerchant rev5. currently the only car with a lipo 1s specific chassis. I believe that bruce is shipping the current run of rev5s with the lipo chassis.
