On a different note, has anyone tried these? Are they better than Ride R1s? or Pit Shimizu 575s?
Thanks all of you, I will try to find a good relation between all of your suggestions.
ph3nix,are you talking about the central shock? I have it almost flat.
best regards
Javier

Has anyone had problems with exotek wheels breaking?
Tech Initiate
My cousin who I race with uses them with pit shimizu tyres.. his have never broke, and he's had some big smashes! we race outdoors on concrete/tarmac surfaces. The only reason I haven't tried them yet is im too lazy to glue tyres id just rather buy pre glued..
however I think it may be an advantage to use exotek rims and pits with thicker inserts for outdoor racing.. the pre glued pits have a very thin insert which i dont think works well on bumpy outdoor tracks.. my cousin is usually faster than me and im sure his wheel/insert/tyre combination helps...

Can anyone give me their experiences of shorty vs super shorty batteries with their F1 cars?

By super shorty Im assuming you mean 2S batteries for 1/12 pan cars?
Im using one of them in my F1 just because I have one of those super shorty pack for my 12th which I retired and didnt wanna waste the basically brand new battery. It handled it fine, I have no complaints. I was able to get around 12 mins of run time on a 3900mah pack on a 17.5T blinky setup. I had to add about 50g of weights just to meet minimum weight requirements, but you can place them wherever on the car which is most advantageous to handling

Well, they dont have similar effect. Actually on low grip the thicker oil has the opposite effect of harder springs. Try it. On low grip thicker oil helps to stabilise the car on sweepers and streights.

I like the idea of being able to be able to put ballast on the car in more of a flexible manner (than the extra weight of the battery). But also need to mindful of the discharging characteristics.

I have a parts car that I'm trying to build into a vehicle I can bash/race with. It is a Tamiya F104 that is about 75% complete. I am putting a parts list together and have been able to find most of the major components that I want to buy are available through major USA distribution (Tower Hobbies/Great Planes/Hobbico).
Here are the parts I need that I have a few questions on...
- Rear axle spacer
This is the spacer that goes on the left side of the axle. Has anyone ever made their own custom spacer? What materials did you use?
- Front steering knuckles/kingpins.
It looks like they are currently out of stock, even on Tamiyausa.com. Other than aftermarket options which are available, are there any other kits that use similar parts (like the Tamiya 1/12 scale on-road cars?)
- Center Damper/Shock.
Would a shock for a Tamiya M-chassis car work? I have a few extra shocks, but I'm not sure if the shock shaft would be long enough.
Thanks for any help/advice.

Why wont the series just spec Shimizu tires? Shimizu tires are the only tires that actually become awesome the more you use them. And Shimizus are still better than all of the other tires when new out of the package except for Yokomos.....
Who cares about racing/racers???
