1) put inner bearing in hub
2) slide large shim over axle all the way up to the back of the axle
3) slide axle/bone into hub carrier
4) slide small shim onto axle through hub carrier
5) push outter bearing into hub carrier

using that i'm able to put my normal male silverback gorilla wheel nut tightening job and there's no binding. in the pictures that come with the shims (the pic socket posted) it seems like they want you to slide both shims onto the axle before sliding the axle into the hub carrier and like i said, that doesn't work.

I've traditionally done the diff screw head on the left side (driver's side), but have since switched to the Right side (passenger side) regardless of transmission type (3 gear RM vs 3 gear MM and 4 gear MM).

Kdub (Kurt Wenger, former AE designer) had this to say on the matter:

The right rear is the way the AE manuals state (or used to state). It really shouldn't matter since you go around turns both left and right.

I'll be doing some math to see how much it would be for the b6d plus all the parts to convert it to a b6. I'm thinking at least 100 dollars. If I raced dirt I don't even think I would upgrade my b5m because not enough has changed from the lite version to the b6d. Some stuff but I can't imagine it is going to be game changing. The b6 for carpet/turf racers on the other hand... Gear diff, lower ride height adjustment, wider tower, front mounted rear shocks, lay down transmission, etc... That makes it a different animal. They made the b6 to be competitive on turf. I just can't help but think the made the b6d just to go along with it. Still has the 3 gear, ball diff, etc.

Kody ran his laydown car at OCRC the other night too. It's going to be the new normal.

I think so too. Lay down, flat front arm, ball diff and shocks in the rear of the rear arms is my bet for the new standard. Stand up tranny will go the way if the rear motor.

I wonder why the b5m got rid of the gull arms and then went back to them for carpet? I ditched my gull arms for flats for carpet. Maybe the geometry is different upfront from the b5m??

" We have found that the flat arms have a more precise feel off center but then release the corner sooner making them suited for most dirt tracks. The also pop better off of jumps. The gull wing arms stay steering longer in the corner which is a primary need on carpet." - Kody Numedahl

What no prices? Good thing I got a look at it before it went Bermuda Triangle. Between the weights and aluminum steering, as well as extra parts for repair. It's looking like an additional $100.

I saw the CF towers are $19.99.

What does the lay down tranny case cost?

Laydown gearbox 6.99
Laydown motor plate 13.99
39t idler gear 5.99

So, 27 bucks thereabouts.

Thanks.
And to think that stuff cost about $200 for the aftermarket b5m parts.
